PlayStation 1 game hangs after playing it for few minutes
-
Hi, i use a Raspberry pi 4 model 4GB RAM and if i play Colin McRae Rally 2.0 for a few minutes, it hangs. I also use a fan to cool my CPU. I use the Official USB-C Power Suply, and the games are on a USB Stick, my micro SD is from Hama with 16GB and 80MB/s. The Rom i use is from a side and i tried my own Rom. And the rest of the system is default. The Retropie version is the 4.8 and i installed it with the raspberry pi imager.

Please fill out the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Make sure you have the correct PS1 BIOS files copied (they're not distributed with RetroPie) and you're not overclocking. -
@mitu I hope this is fine
-
@Brokenbalon Please don't post links to ROMs - see the forum rules.
You're also not mentioning what version or RetroPIe your have (newest is not a version, please specify the exact version) and how did you installed RetroPie (manually or what image you used). -
@mitu oh sry i thougt im not allowed to ask for roms

I tested this game and no issue so far. I did 3 races. Try to launch the game with verbose logging and add the log here (use the pastebin to add the log). Instructions how to enable verbose logging from runcommand : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/ . Also, if you can, find another source for the game.
-
@windg What race did u try, when i play champienchip as beginner, there hangs
-
@Brokenbalon I try single race, i will try and championship.
-
@windg where do i find this runcommand
-
@Brokenbalon i found it, i must download it
-
@windg /dev/shm/runcommand.log this folder doesnt exist
-
@Brokenbalon I tested and the championship and no issue too.
The path for the runcommand.log file(this is the file we want) is inside the
shm
folder.- Run the game with verbose logging from the runcommand menu
- Exit from the game, the runcommand.log file will be created. If you restart the system the file will be gone.
- With the use of FileZilla program, that you have to install to a windows pc. take the file. I know the process is a little complicated if you do it for the first time but it is necessary.
-
@windg its not creating the file, i tried it like 5 time and the file isnt there
-
@Brokenbalon Do you have issues with other psx games?
Some things that you can try:
Try to update RetroPie.
Check that you have the necessary bios files.
Disable enhanced resolution, if you have enable it.
Download the game from a different source.
Check usb stick for errors.
Reset RetroPie/permissions : RetroPie Setup > Configuration > resetromdirs
Reinstall RetroPie to a different sd-card. -

How are you trying to access the file? Note that
/dev/shm
is a location which only exists in memory and does not persist after a reboot. You have to access the logfile while the RPi device is running; you cannot, for example, put the SD card into your PC computer and access the file that way. -
@windg yes, its only at this game
-
@Brokenbalon Then it's a bad rom i believe. Game running without issues on me, i have a RPi4 too.
-
@windg what rom do u use self made or other?
-
I use Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (Europe) (EnFrDeEsIt) (Rev 2). Im using RetroPie 4.8.5 (Buster) with latest updates .
-
@windg whats the difrent between rev1 and rev2
