@windg find /home/pi/RetroPie -name *.hi shows nothing. find /home/pi/RetroPie -name *.nv shows other games.

Which arcade emulator are you using ? MAME is a bit vague, given the number of MAME based emulators available.

The name of the emulator is shown in the Runcommand launch menu, after the rom name, between ( and ):

@mitu The launch menu is enabled but doesn't appear. I see an image with 'Press a button to configure' but pressing does nothing. How can I check the emulator or reset scores?

You enabled launching images, try to disable it temporarily to see which emulator is used.

@mitu Pressing a key after the image shows this.
                    System: mame-libretro
                    Emulator: lr-mame2010

In this case, the hiscores are stored under mame-libretro/mame2010/nvram/trackfld.nv or mame-libretro/mame2010/hi/trackfld.hi, try deleting both and start again the game.

@mitu I have no .nv files and only .hi files for other games. The folder is named mame2003, not 2010.

                          Reinstalling RetroPie fixed it.
