Help With 3DO Games “ ir-Opera”
-
Haven’t been on here in a while
Recently wanted to play some 3DO games on the pie
Unfortunately “ Multi discs “ games can not be played
May I ask
Is there any way someone could inform the creator of the ir Opera 3DO player in retroarch
“ When we will have the option to change discs correctly “
I managed to get supreme warrior working with both disc but it took me like 8 hours and after so much confusion I absolutely don’t in know the correct steps I took to elaborate on how I got it working
I believe , but not sure
-
Putting both discs in separate folders ( each disc has there own folder )
-
Renaming the second disc to match the first disc
-
then saving the game inside the game before the end of disc 1
-
saving it also in the retro arch save state
-
when it says “ insert 2nd disc “ I closed out the second disc
-
then went to disc 2 , booted it up
-
loaded the game from the retroarch
-
clicked on the second disc content
-
says I need to insert the second disc
-
I then again saved it in the memory like before
-
and inserted the disc 2 again , and then was able to load the context from disc 1
See I don’t know what I did but it was confusing and I don’t even know if I explained it correctly
Hope
The developers can put the “ swap disc “ ,
Change disc function “ to the opera core on the pieThank you for hearing my frustration
I appreciate it

I tested this game, i choose to boot from disc 2 to see if the game will promomt me to enter disk 1 so i can check the disc swapping. The game never ask for disk1, instead is start to play. Are you sure is a 2 disk game ? If you can add the save file .

I did find with a 2 disc 3do game an m3u file wouldn't work with lr-opera. Tbf I didn't dig much deeper into the console as it's not really my thing. You could open a bug issue in GitHub for the emulator maybe? As I suspect it'll be a problem across different platforms
-
The Opera core doesn't have support for
.m3u
files, nor the disk control interface. The original 3do didn't have such feature either - the console would reset before the new disk was inserted so the procedure to load the disk then reset the emulator is exactly how the console worked. -
This is correct.
The 3DO always resets when a disc is inserted. Games therefore expect a saved game in the NVRAM to be there. So set the NVRAM storage to "shared" and just play the game as normal.
The only reason for multi disc support in the emulator is to make the NVRAM shared. Not an useless feature but I've been busy with other things.
(note: I'm the maintainer of Opera)
