Exiting Adv-Mame emulator goes to wrong folder
-
Hi everyone,
Brand new user to raspberry pi and retropie. Anyway I have a raspberry pi 3. I loaded retropie 3.8 onto my sd card and got most emulators set up. I did run a package update so I think it went to 4.0 but I'm not positive on that. I followed a YouTube video on how to upgrade packages so I'm pretty sure it went to 4.0. Pretty much everything has worked without issue(nes, snes, Genesis ect).
This week I have been working on advance mame and trying roms out. I put the entire mame .106 set on the sd card so it is a lot of files. About 6500 files.
The issue is when I exit advmame it defaults to the Macintosh folder so everytime I have to push right on the controller to go back into mame. I have poked around in some of the configuration folders but I'm not sure what to look for.
As this problem was happening last night I tried a snes game and it exited to the the snes folder. I have only seem it happen in mame. Not sure what happened but any ideas it would be appreciated.

@Evilmrt do you have 2 controllers hooked up or a chip that supports more than one controller wired up?

I have a buffalo replica usb snes controller, a different no name brand usb snes controller, and a mouse and keyboard.
When I exit the emulator and hold right it will go to the correct mame screen but starts to scroll up the list of Roms in the list and I manually have to hit down on the d-pad to stop the scrolling. If I just press right for a second during the transition from exiting the game it seems to just go to mame and stay on the last game played.
If nothing is pressed on the d pad it goes left to the Macintosh section.
Mame section seems to be the only issue. As other emulators exit to the appropriate system.
It's not a big deal. More of a nuisance.

@Evilmrt ok so this is a linux issue. It affects several controllers. Most controllers if you dont touch any buttons on your controllers after booting the pi and ssh in and do a jstest or hit f4 on your keyboard then do a jstest you will see your controller/s are stuck on up and left. Usually the second controller causes the issue because people usually dont touch the second controller. All you usually need to do is press a button on all controllers plugged in after boot up and it will stop. Sometimes that isnt enough. To permanently fix raphael from raphnet-tech made a linux patch to make this never happen again. I can confirm this patch works. Had to do it on a friends pi. Here is the instructions for the patch

@edmaul69 It worked. Thank you very much. Your awesome!
I went home last night and unplugged the mouse and extra controller leaving only the keyboard and buffalo snes controller hooked up. I booted into retropie. On the home screen I then plugged in the second usb snes controller and immediately the screen started to shuffle left. I pressed a button on the second controller and it stopped scrolling like you had mentioned.
I then tried mame and exited a game and behold the glory that I was in the correct mame folder. Ta da! Awesome! Problem solved.
I will check out the patch page you linked above hopefully this weekend.
