Naomi - copying the Mame/Arcade/Neo Geo Real Naming convention

Hi all, I made myself a Naomi platform within emulationstation but I can't figure out the process that uses the real names rather than the filenames for the rom entries for the above platforms. Is there a function or code within the emulationstation fork someone can point me in the direction of please? Or is it something that's hidden behind a config I can't spot?

EmulationStation translates MAME rom names for systems where the platform is set to arcade if I remember correctly.
