Retroarch Controller problem

Hi all I am having troubel with controller after get into retroarch setting menu from retropie settings menu. I did not changed in controller configurations. For example after retroarch settings menu I play gameboy game and to exit I push start and select however it did not work. problem still continue after restarting the system.
Sometimes in retroarch menu back button is not working
Do you have any idea for that? -

Delete the gameboy retroarch.cfg file, update to the last Retropie script, and reinstall the emulator.
