Tried to install PC-98 today and got this error:
Could not successfully build lr-np2kai - PC98 emu - Modified Neko Project II port for libretro (/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-np2kai/sdl/np2kai_libretro.so not found).
      /home/pi

My setup-script is up to date.

Here's the patebin of the log:

      Part 1: https://pastebin.com/BkLLL4EZ
      Part 2: https://pastebin.com/KHAPKr71
      Part 3: https://pastebin.com/AwtTzckV

Any ideas as to what is causing the error or why the .so file isn't building?

It's an upstream source issue, it will probably be solved there.

Upstream will probably take some time to fix the build problem, but we should have a workaround in RetroPie-Setup for it. Just update RetroPie-Setup and the installation of the core should work.
