      Hi-
I have a (genuine) Sony PS4 controller (CUH-ZCT2U) that I had paired with an unfinished installation of Retropie 4.8 on a Pi 4. The wireless controller connection worked fine.

In the process of revisiting the unfinished Retropie install I messed it up and started from scratch. I installed the latest RaspiOS (64 bit Lite: 11-19-2024) and installed RetroPie (Basic install) on top of it. Under 'Configuration / tools' I installed 'X204 bluetooth' and selected '3 NoInputNoOutput’ as that HAD worked. I am able to pair and connect the PS4 controller but it almost disconnects within seconds.

At some point I did a firmware update (dated 12/?/2024) which might have caused this. Any thoughts on why it disconnects right away after connection and how to fix?

      -Thanks-

Though support for the latest/current RaspiOS is still beta, I'm not aware of any Bluetooth related issues in the Lite/Full version.

Did you try re-setting the controller fully and then re-pairing ? Is the controller charged ?

I wasn't aware the Sony controller could be reset (until now). I turned on the controller and pressed the hidden reset button. I cycled power on the Pi. I unpaired the connection. Re-initiated the pairing process on the Pi. Initiated pairing on the Sony controller ( ‘PS’ and ‘SHARE’ buttons simultaneously - starts blinking white). MAC address of the Sony controller is recognized, accept and select '3 NoInputNoOutput’.

After the above sequence is completed, the Sony controller LED turns to solid blue for 5 seconds and then disconnects. WTF?

          -Thanks-

Have you tried the first option (DisplayYesNo) when pairing ?

I unpaired, repaired and selected '1 DisplayYesNo' - did not help...

                Aha!
The USB charger cube I was using (true Apple 12W) REFUSES to charge/power the Sony Controller! When I used a cheap no name USB cube it now connects and stays connected. Yay!

                Thanks for your all suggestions
