Kodi install & Gamepad issues
-
Hi,
I recently purchased a raspberry pi v3 and was looking to install kodi and run some emulation from it. I downloaded and installed the latest version of the retropie software from their site and followed the instructions to install it on a memory card which was done without problem. The two problems I am facing however is in relation to running kodi and getting my wireless xbox controller to work. When the raspberry pi turns on it boots without issue and I can see the emulators and kodi port installed. I have read that the xboxdrv causes issues in the later versions of retropie and the driver that seems to work is an xpad driver. The problem I am having here is that there is no xpad driver available to install so I'm unsure of how to get this so I can use my controller. The wireless dongle recognizes but the controller just flashes. The devices I am using are keyboard mouse and an iPazzPort Backlit Wireless Mini Keyboard for Android TV Box Mini Keyboard Usb with Touchpad for Raspberry Pi 3. The second issue I am having is in regards to kodi. I have been able to install kodi successfully through retropie but when I enter kodi to view settings it does not allow me to scroll through the available functions. The only things I can access are the music/Pictures menu and if I try to scroll to the right side of the screen where the settings tab should be the system just auto scrolls back the the start of the menu.
I have used kodi before on different media but never on a raspberry pi so I'm a little bit at a loss as to where to go from here. I appolozie if this has been asked before, but I did not see anything on first glance.
Thank You in advance for any feedback provided as it is appreciated.

@dgraham1977 xpad is installed by default on the latest image (e.g. 4.0.2) but due to trigger issues the config on kodi broke.

ok I have read through the link you provided, and it did give me some answers to what I was looking for. I also have a memory card that has an earlier version of retropie installed I am assuming because the xpad driver is not present). How do I find out the version number of the build and if it is an earlier version would I be correct that if the build updates then this driver would be present? I am just trying to figure out the easiest way to get this driver installed. Is there a way to downgrade kodi so that it will allow me to get the functionality I am looking for. Reason I ask is because even with a keyboard and mouse scrolling through the available options (pictures, music etc) it does not allow me to see the settings screen, so I was hoping that if I could get an earlier version installed it might give me better results.

@dgraham1977 you have a few options.
start fresh with 4.0.2 and then manually edit your configs based on the aforementioned post or disable xpad, downgrade your kernel, and enable xboxdrv
or use an earlier version where xboxdrv isnt broken.
if you're updating from a previous version, update your setup script, select update all installed pacakges to update, then disable xboxdrv, install the xpad driver, and change your kodi configs
personally I would just recommend a fresh 4.0.2 and then modifying the kodi configs.
The kodi issue will be solved when kodi 17 stable is released.
