PS1 games that have bugs in retropie

@Efriim thanks for the reply!
I checked the cue file by changing it to txt temporary to look inside to make sure it was the same title as the bin. It's a single bin thankfully.
Will look into changing from bin to pbp format. Wasn't expecting anyone to reply back to me. I really appreciate you trying to help me Efriim! Have a good day or night.

@Efriim well i ran that PSX2PSP_v.1.4.2 zip on virustotal got back these results https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/0accd52cc5976d6860ca636167e6296c7b676b8d12e82b11833e0771bf3566f3/detection.
Sure these two trojans detected could be false positives. About 10 years ago a virus destroyed the hard drive on my old computer. I'm not taking any chances really haha.
Appears i'll have to give up on playing Worms Pinball on the pi and just play it on the pc. Thanks again for your time Efriim!

@dan18774
It's possible, there isn't really enough information of the virus found to give it any clarity.
It's also possible that this virus is not a threat, to updated windows machines. I don't believe it accesses any network resources, a comparable search through what is added to the registry might prove something, though it exits cleanly and doesn't seem to have any issues with temporary files. However it does lock .bin and .PBP files that are loaded into it.Alternatively popstation GUI 3,00 beta from wololo-gdrive
Can convert to .PBP playable-archive.
Were you able to check if the file extension (known file extensions enabled) is right? Windows explorer in detailed view will have an column for type/ext. It is just a chance, but maybe if .bin files are associated to a program on your machine then the extension will not be seen, unless the default setting to hide known filetype extensions is disabled.
The file could end up being "Worms Pinball.bin.bin" if you had changed the name to fit the .cue sheet. -
@Efriim true. Gotta take risks on the internet i suppose. The community on virustotal had PSX2PSP_v.1.4.2 zip 24+ in the green for what that's worth.
Will check out Popstation though. Just trying to be cautious has i don't have extra money to spend on a computer / get it fixed if i mess it up.
This is the inside of the cue file for Worms Pinball after changing cue to txt.
'' FILE "Worms Pinball (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00 ''This is the name of the bin file '' Worms Pinball (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).bin ''.
I have had to change a few cue file because they were named something else then the bin.
Also i confirmed it worked on the pc ps1 emulator pSX v1.13.

@Efriim Thanks again for the reply btw! Great info as always from this forum!
But may i ask why changing a .bin file to .pbp format would make a game work on the pi ? I understand you are just suggesting another method to try to get it working. Just curious if this is common and proven successful in the past for you or others.
I was thinking it was some sort of copyright protection. I saw on a forum somewhere ( possibly here) that some PAL games have protection.
Thanks for the time.
-
@dan18774
It was a percentage of positive outcome versus possible complications with .cue sheets.
In the end you would get a playable archive format for playstation roms so at least there was a plus.I don't know a lot about PAL region games, I do know the PAL region BIOS mostly end in "2". I thought of the BIOS not region specific at least for emulation. "scph5502.bin" could be tried.
-
@Efriim you're awesome. Thanks i have no idea about any of this stuff really just reading a trying to learn the basics.
I added a ton of bios folders already no dice, but then i just realized the only bios on my pc running the ps1 emulator pSX v1.13 is the common SCPH1001.BIN .
Will try that popstation program you suggested. Came back good on virustotal and put me at ease. Tried to find other programs like that first program you suggested PSX2PSP i had no luck.
Thanks again! At least now i have a small chance compared to no chance of getting it to work.
-
Well after turning the Worms Pinball cue file and bin to pbp they won't run on the either of the pi's playstation 1 emulators. It was worth a try though.
-
@dan18774
Yeah the SCPH1001.BIN has always worked for me, except one game, "Arc the Lad Monster Tournament/Casino". For that one game I had to set the pcsx to use the built-in HLE bios, you can try this by opening the retroarch menu.
Quick Menu >> Options >> Bios selection~ = "HLE BIOS"
If the rom is just dropping back to EmulationStation, then you may be able to set HLE BIOS with a different ROM first.
Also you could get a log by running the retroarch pcsx with verbose logging via run-command. There will be 2 or 3 logs then in the /dev/shm/ folder, I forget which one has more useful information regarding the exit status of the emulator and retroarch.I can't really think of anything else right now, updating lr-pcsx to the latest.
-
@Efriim i just tried everything you suggested and the game still doesn't want to run on the pi. Maybe someday after a update it will work. Thanks for trying to help me.

Anyone here has been able to fix the crash on Driver The Wheelman with pcsx-rearmed?
-
@Chuck_B Don't think so, but that's hardly a problem as you can just use savestates to restart a mission.
-
@BobHarris well, creating a savestate everytime you start a new mission is not very handy solution
-
@Chuck_B It's only pressing Hotkey + R1.. If I ever play that game again, I wouldn't see it as a problem...quicker too as there are no load times.
-
@BobHarris I know the combo. The problem is that you must remember every time to create it
-
Hi! Now pcsx-rearmed has dynarec. Will this help us to play the games we're talking about?
I tested Driver and it keeps to crash. Maybe need some setting?
Anyone tested it? -
@Chuck_B pcsx has always had dynarec for arm32. the new lightrec dynarec is for non-arm32 platforms only (ie, not raspberry pis). it is capable of working for arm32 platforms but a) it’s slower than the older dynarec, and b) it currently has a bunch of show stopper bugs with arm32.
so... potentially, but not ready yet.
-
@dankcushions thank you very much for this explanation :)
-
I recently finished the Final Fantasy 8. The game crashes sometimes at random times. Also vibration does not work.
-
FYI: Bug in Driver should be gone as per https://github.com/notaz/pcsx_rearmed/issues/101
