Switching to dispmanx video driver affects all vertical games rotation, Retropie 4.0.2 ...
-
Hi,
I've looked high and low for an answer to this but can't find anything - I just want to be sure I'm doing everything right.
On my default install (video driver "gl") all games have the correct orientation. Fine on 4:3 games and vertical shooters e.g. DoDonPachi are fine.
However I read "dispmanx" is the best video driver for reduced latency - as soon as a I switch to this all vertical games e.g. DoDonPachi are being rotated.
Is this a side-effect of the dispmanx driver? Returning to the gl driver fixes it.
Do I really have to do a per game config using the dispmanx driver?
Thanks

The dispmanx video driver for RetroArch seems to be in somewhat of an unfinished state. I recently switched over to it myself to reduce latency and the first thing I noticed was that the onscreen yellow text was no longer visible. This is such a key element of RetroArch that you can bet the libretro guys aren't through with it's implementation yet. How long it will take to finish it up is anyone's guess and there is always the possibility that it will remain as is, but after switching to a wired controller and dispmanx, I personally believe the trade off is worth it for the more responsive controls. Otherwise beating hyper-sensitive control scenarios like the turbo tunnels in 'Battletoads' would be an impossibility.
