      i have some roms that i need to run under mame2003, which i set with run command. however i can't exit the mame2003 emulator when i'm finished playing a rom/game? i don't see options to set that in "tab" menu either. when i run a rom under mame4all it exits fine with a combination of pressing 2 buttons, not sure where mame4all is configured to exit emulator either :) but it works at least..

      1. where do i configure mame2003 to exit rom using joystick buttons?
      2. mame4all DOES exit using 2 button combo but not sure where it is configured in mame4all?

        By default "Start + Select" exits libretro emulators on retropie.

          1. press TAB in game to bring up the settings menu and change your controls from there.

          Systems: Raspberry Pi 0/2/3 Model B+
          Os: RetroPie 4.5
          Frontend: Emulationstation & Attract Mode

            @BuZz yes i figured that, but not sure why mame2003 is not working, i haven't changed anything, i moved my roms all under arcade dir so i could run them under different emulators. when i run something in mame4all which seems to have similar tab menu to mame2003, my start and select exit the game fine. but the same combo won't work in mame2003

              what is the contents of /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg ?

              Does it work if you move the roms to the mame-libretro folder and run them from there using mame2003 ?

              also helps to provide more information when posting - I don't know which platform you are running on, or which version of retropie, etc etc

                Files Contents of /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg

                # Settings made here will only override settings in the global retroarch.cfg if placed above the #include line

                input_remapping_directory = /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/

                #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"

                Pi Model: pi 3
                RetroPie Version Used:
                pi@retropie:/opt/retropie $ cat VERSION
                4.0-rc1
                Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website

                tried moving roms to mame-libretro folder and rebooted pi, the roms i placed in mame-libretro don't show up in my arcade list to choose from now.

                  They won't show up in the arcade list - they will show up under mame then. Config looks ok - not sure why you can't quit - I need to see files in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads and /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

                  also which controllers do you have connected ? Hotkeys only work on the first controller (depends on which usb port they are connected by default, but order can be changed in the configuration editor)

                  Please also update retropie-setup and update all packages as you are not on the latest release.

                    yep :) i found that out too, sorry i didn't think to look for that. they still would not exit even after the move. here is my file for
                    /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/Xin-MoXin-MoDualArcade.cfg , which is my 2 player joysticks/buttons . they both connect through a usb circuit board, plugged into the pi via usb.

                    Xin-MoXin-MoDualArcade.cfg file http://pastebin.com/uDmtnDDg
                    retroarch.cfg file http://pastebin.com/ZTBb7Ne7

                    i updated retropi via the menu system to the latest version. it added new items as well in emulation station i see, such as msdos.
