Hello all. I am building a arcade cabinet for my mom. She loves Mspacman. I already have a good retropie image I have setup with about 30 different systems. I want to scale it down to mame only since I will be flipping the monitor sideways. I would like to put Vertical roms only on her install. What is the best way to seperate the vertical roms? I was thinking maybe clrmamepro or something. I havent used it in a long time, and am no expert. If anyone could point me to a good tut or maybe you have a better idea? A torrent packed with vertical roms would be nice lol. Seriously, and good solution... thx

@proaudiosoft Personally, I would want to hand build a custom set like this, not an automatic one. There will be games in there that you don't want or can't play depending on your controls. For example, do you have a spinner? What about a steering wheel? Trackball? Or maybe you are OK with simulated steering using a joystick. Also, you'll want to merge or get rid of the clones. For example, I doubt you will want Atari Football (xoxo) which was a head-to-head vertical game that uses two bowling ball sized trackballs!

My advice is to simply google a list of vertical arcade classics and go through it, building your system game by game. You might want to use more than one version of MAME too, like using AdvanceMAME for vector games, so you would need to get these from a different romset anyway.

        That's my two cents.

@caver01 After reading this and thinking about it, I concur. This does probably make better sense. Sometimes we just need to be reminded. Thx

@proaudiosoft i actually already did this for mame2003 (0.78 romset). check this thread out: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4046/crt-pi-shader-users-automatic-usage-of-crt-pi-vertical-in-vertical-games-in-lr-mame2003

it's for a specific purpose, but you could use the file names as your list of vertical game.zip names for whatever you're doing.

@dankcushions Great dude. I was working on something similar, I have about 50 configs done, but with artwork on the sides also(for verticals on horizontal). Wow 1500, you must have seperated verticals and wrote a bat file? And yes, I will use these for my long list lol, great place to start. What would be the easiest way to match these file names to my rom files names to seperate? I need like something that will remove all roms that dont have the same name or something. Somekind of match prog
