Mausberry and Adafruit powerboost compatibility?
-
Hey there guys, I'm currently in the process of doing a Gameboy Zero build and was wondering if anyone knows how the Mausberry powerswtich acts with the Adafruit Powerboost 1000c.
The reason I ask is that I have a spare laying a round for an older project and I missed out on custom part from the sudomod forum.
I have the updated version with the LED pad.
Does anyone know if it would shut down the powerboost or just cut the power to the Pi Zero once it's shut down?
Any help is great appreciated!

@monstermadeofman I don't think it'd do what you want, since the battery plugs into the PowerBoost with a JST connector, not via the USB input, which is really for charging the battery. The Mausberry will detect a switch being thrown, but it just cuts the USB output to the Pi after things are shut down.

Cheers man. I know it connects via JST to the battery but that was why I was planning on desoldering the mini USB be output and input. So that I can then solder to the correct pads on the power boost.
No worries I'll just have to come up with another solution :)

I wouldn't recommend it... While it would work, when the mauseberry switch turns off the pi, it will not turn off the powerboost as it won't close the enable pins. So it will run all the time and slowly drain your power from your battery even though it's off...
There is a method to build your own safe shutdown switch on the sudomod forum using a 100k resistor and a JFET... It's a pretty uncomplicated circuit, just can be difficult to find the right JFET.

@jsawhite cheer buddy :) that was part of my concern. Although relatively easy to build like you say JFET is an issue also the space it takes up. The premade PCB would be ideal but I'll just have to wait and see
