      @Rookervik

      Ha! Nice. Her color palette may be limited, but everything else she has in spades.

      @meleu

      I'll have to take a look at that. The animation features seem especially interesting.

        @AndersHP Good lord, you're not asking much are you? LOL.

        Glad you're up for the challenge :D :D

        Looks great with the controllers so far, but what I initially sought was a joystick + 6 button layout actually. Like this: https://goo.gl/images/uhfKnz

        With some cool symbols from each system, I could help with different arrangements if you like :-)

          @meleu Graphics Gale is what I use to get the basic shape of a pixel art laid down if it is over 64x64 pixels. Graphics Gale has a wonderful bendy-line-tool that makes controllers a cinch to draw :D

            @AndersHP Hmm, having a picture showing all the consoles mapped to a 6-button arcade setup won't help me or anyone else I know except exobuzz. You would need an arcade setup to benefit from that.

            But most everyone (except the people with pi arcades) would benefit from a typical controller image showing where that particular emulator's buttons are. Such as Atari; there are a lot of buttons that a user might not know. Like the level change and the game start switches.

              @AndersHP However, I can draw an arcade stick and some buttons and give you the assets and you can create all the screens you need. LOL.

                @Rookervik well, I'd like that then.
                Actually I thought many in here had arcade builds, I'm just one of the few?

                I'll try the program you mention, and post a result here if I can figure it out XD

                    @Rookervik Nice, I like the retro sprite look of the controllers! A little tough to read the buttons, maybe brighter red color might work to help them pop a bit more.

                      And would you just use Graphics Gale to draw / write button mappings on top?

                        @AndersHP I'll do it. I planned to, today, but I got sidetracked by my GPD Win. Installing games on it. LOL. Nothing like playing Dungeon Siege 3 and Reckoning on a 5 inch Windows 10 machine.

                        Anyway, yes, I will draw them. I will probably do a white wire-frame arcade stick and you can change the colors. And then a colored arcade stick with a bunch of different color buttons you can change out, and "stickers" you can put on them telling what button is what.

                        Just give me a little time. Working this week and have a new toy that's sidetracking me. :D

                        PS, I'd use Photoshop to edit images. Haha. But yeah, GraphicsGale is free. Gimp is free. And I'll give more instruction once I finish the template for you.

                          Hey dude, take it easy with the buttons. The rubber below the buttons is a little "cheap". I don't recommend playing Final Fight (or other button smashing game) on this device. ;-)

                          My friend @R1n0X had this kind of problems with his GPD Win with two months of use.

                            I have an older GPD device that has a similar issue with the right shoulder button. A few games of 'F-Zero' and it completely lost it's tactile feedback click.

                                Ok, do upvotes mean it's ok like it is? Just need a wire-frame version and button colors?

                                  Hokay, this will do. If you need more button text, hopefully you can follow the examples and make what you need.

                                  You'll probably need GIMP to do the cutting and pasting easily.

                                      I love it! I'll try making my own screens as a combination of your system splash screens with this underneath. It's going to be fantastic! THANKS!

                                        Three questions:

                                        1: is there a place on github where all these system screens are placed?
                                        2: the screens seem to be widescreen. What happens if I put widescreen splash images on the pi and uses a 4:3 screen? Sides just cut?
                                        3: the splash screens have "indexed colors" in GIMP, meaning if I copy your nice joystick and buttons directly, a lot of the shading is lost. How can I work around this? And why are the colors indexed in the first place?

                                          I know the answers for 1 and 2.

                                          @AndersHP said in Runcommand System Splashscreens!:

                                          1: is there a place on github where all these system screens are placed?

                                          Yes: https://github.com/ehettervik/es-runcommand-splash

                                          By the way, I use that repository files to provide an easy way to install those runcommand launching images in your system. If you are interested take a look at this thread.

                                          2: the screens seem to be widescreen. What happens if I put widescreen splash images on the pi and uses a 4:3 screen? Sides just cut?

                                          Why not test? The answer is yes anyway... :)

                                            @AndersHP The answer to number 3 is that the files are saved as 8-bit PNGs for EXTREMELY small file size. 8-bit can only handle 256 colors, so they are indexed. You can get around it by changing the color depth on the images. Otherwise GIMP will try to find colors that will match the best for each image. It's the same for all of the artwork in the Pixel theme.
