I've checked the other posts about gamepads and keyboards on reboot but I feel my situation is different.

Every time I reboot I need to remove the controller and then plug it back in. As soon as I do it works fine. The keyboard is working fine even through reboot. There's no lights on the controller until I plug it out and back in.

The controller is an xbox afterglow usb controller. I'm on a raspberry pi 3 model B with a fresh installation of the latest retropie and I'm plugged into a powered usb hub with both keyboard and joystick.

      System changes -
      No updates run
Audio set to force to 3.5mm
      Wifi connected
      USB rom service disabled
      Audio mixer boosted to max

I wouldn't be bothered but I'm building an arcade cabinet with the pi and I can't open the cabinet every time it boots. Thanks for any help

@TubeAlloy my mayflash wii classic controller adaptor did the same thing. I ended up just buying a different one.

Thanks I'm not sure if it is the controller though, I was testing everything on a pi 1 model B and it worked fine every time I rebooted. Granted I wasn't using the powered hub at the time.

I'll try eliminating the hub and report back. If it is just the controller that's fine once the same thing doesn't happen with the arcade encoder :D
