Hi, first say hello to the community.

      My problem:

In a fresh retropie 4.0.2 (OC and nonOC raspberry Pi3B) I can play Fifa 98 without any issue (spanish release).

When I manage the packages for update, the game hangs on after the EA logo. Not autoexit or freezes, just a black screen. But I'm able to exit with select+start...

Is there any wrong with this update?

      Thanks in advance.

I don´t know but it suppose not; try to reinstall your psX emulator or try another one; anyway, care about bios or try to download another game version ;)

Thanks, I'll give a try again.

The bin is made from my original CD (it has speakers in spanish, so another version is not an option) and as I said it works without any issue in a fresh install.

          I'll try with pbp format.

@josete2k i have them all in .pbp format. The nice thing about them is just like the psp it is really easy to switch discs. I added the previous, next, and eject controller settings (which are used in other systems as well) in the individual controller configs.

@edmaul69 yeah, thanks... I have chrono cross and xenogears in pbp format for switching discs. And select+up (open tray) select+right (next disc) mapped with success.

              And about pbp:

There was a popstation gui for multiple track discs (I remember it from my psp scene time). Is it compatible with the psx emulator?

This is because there are games that are composed by multiple tracks and I have to play them in bin+cue format.

I hope I could solve this problem... If not, I can't upgrade my system.

              :(

              Thanks again.

Josete2k, your original CD could be wrong (scratchy), try the same spanish version but from internet, if it worked with the fresh install... this sounds stupid but give it a try.

In addition, have you tried the others psx emulators and .pbp?

                  @flop tested and twice tested...

Even in 4.1.1... The game stops after the EA logo.

                  :(

                    OK, news...

                    Retropie 4.0.2

Fifa 98 works like a charm.

                    Retropie 4.0.3 and 4.1

Fifa 98 only works if I skip the EA logo video by pressing START, if not I only get black screen after the EA video. After that, the game works fine.
