Update or clean install?
-
Hi! I have been away for a while but now it's time to get into it again :D
I have been building an arcade cabinet:

It's in Swedish :DNow it's finally time to put it all together and install all the components and the RPI. I have tested everything before and it works great. But now version 4.1 is out, I think I was on 3.7 before. I guess I should get the latest version.
But should I do a clean install or can I just update it?Kind regards,

Upgrading is easier but after a few upgrades trouble can build up. Mine right now after going from 3.6,.7,.8, 4 etc in 4 it now wont do splash screens, run command shows a raspian login prompt instead of the run command screen and if i try to open the setup script from within i get a black screen now.
I think the TTY being used got buggered up along the way I could probably fix it with 10-20min of effort but it isn't a priority cause the games still play lol

FYI, the Runcommand things seems to be new. t hit me the other dayI think when I upgraded to 4.1
Anyhow, I found a suggestion by Buzz elsewhere tat it was due to Retroarch changes and there was a simple fix to try:
Edit the /boot/cmdline.txt file (sudo nano /boot/cmdline.txt) by adding "plymouth.enable=0" (Zero, not "O") to the end of the arguments on the first line of the file. It fixed the missing runcommand menu for me.

Ill give it a shot next time it bothers me
