Has anyone tried to run a real scoreboard with Daphne PI for Dragons Lair and Space Ace? I would love to hear how you did it.

      Thanks!

        @challenger2010

According to the Daphne Wiki, this feature only works on x86-based machines through a parallel port.

@mediamogul That is true, but I have heard of it working with a parallel to USB adapter. Just curious if anyone got it to work.

Supposedly it still needs an x86-based machine.

As of the time of this writing, only parallel ports on x86-based machines are supported.

@mediamogul There is a port of Daphne from the creators that runs on a 64 machine with a pci-e adapter. The update is only available by updating Daphne through their server. There is also a USB device that can be purchased for $20 that plugs into the back of the scoreboard and runs through USB. I am just curious if anyone else got this working on the PI. I saw one YouTube video of it working but I have no clue how to do it.

              Thanks for your help,

Are these the videos you where talking about? I wonder if you could ask them how they accomplished this?

In the YouTube comments, user Mark Spaeth has this to say:

I've got the USB to scoreboard adapters for sale on my site, along with precompiled binaries for RasberryPi to use the adapter. For other platforms you'd need to patch the source code and recompile. I know the drivers work on linux -- should work on Windows, but I don't have a windows build environment. http://cambridgearcade.dyndns.org

I went to his site and couldn't find the binaries he mentions, but they might only be offered alongside the $100 board he's selling.

Yes! I got those parts and I think the downloads are here http://mspaeth.dyndns.org/files/daphne/

But I can't figure it out past this point.

                    Thanks,

This is a highly niche scenario and you might not find anyone here who has personally attempted this. That being said, my best advice would be to contact Mark Spaeth directly (cambridgearcade@gmail.com) and ask him what further steps are required.

@mediamogul I was hoping someone could at least look at the list of files and guide me in the right direction. I don't know which ones to replace in Daphne.

                        Thanks-worth a shot,

Does anyone know how to contact Brian Jones? The creator of the second YouTube video?

                          Thanks!

His YouTube details are extremely light, so you might just have to contact him through his channel. He also hasn't confirmed his name there, so you'll have to go to the 'Creator Studio' while logged in and manually compose a message.
