I've got a Pi 3 (B) and the latest version of retropie (4.1.1). I am using a wired USB official XBOX 360 controller (which has no issues at all when playing games) but as soon as I launch Kodi the menu scrolls to the left like I am constantly holding down the left on the controller. If I unplug the controller I can successfully navigate the menus in Kodi. I am a very new Pi & retropie user so I am unsure on what to do.

I've searched a lot and most of what I found is in regards to wireless XBOX 360 controllers and not the wired version in terms of creating a custom keymap. I'm just a little lost on where to go and why it would be constantly trying to go left in the menu.

      Thanks in advance!

I only know the workaround to disable gamepad support in Kodi system settings. Ofc that is only a good idea if you don't plan to control Kodi with gamepads :)

@vbs Yes, I was hoping to control with the game pad. I plan on having the Pi in a room that I'd prefer to not have to use/have a keyboard present (and I do have wireless 360 remotes around, but don't have the wireless adapter to use them with the PI...I only have the wireless controllers themselves). I was going to just leave the game pad sitting next to it to use when I needed to change streams/movies.

Check out this thread and should work the same with the wired Xbox 360 controller as well:
