N64 - Mupen64 - N64 Controller
-
Hi there ,
This might have been asked a lot of times but I couldn't find the exact information.
Current setup :
N64 usb controller
RPI 3
Retropie 4.1
I'm using the mupen64plus core and I can't figure out how to exit the core and go back to emulation station. I don't have a select button and Mupen64plus doesnt support button hotkey ( to my knowledge ) How do you guys set it up ? -
Hi I am having the same issue using a N64 retrolink USB controller here is what I found and also where I got stuck.
I linked a video that helped me but I cannot get it working maybe someone else could explain why but there but I modified the mupen64plus.cfg file and adding an exit button combination. For instance J0B7/B9 (Z button combined with Start) is something that can be programmed to exit the emulator.
Here is where I am stuck though, I have been unable to successfully SAVE the edits I have made to the mupen64plus.cfg file. Everytime I perform the edits they never save and that modification gets erased.
My workaround for now is using a wireless mini keyboard that I just hit the escape button on.

Solved!
Nvm, I figured it out after reading the wiki for the 15th time. You need to disable hotkeys in the autoconf.cfg file first and then edit the mupen64plus.cfg to enable whatever you want to exit the emulator. As stated above I use Z Trigger + Start button to exit back out. It works perfectly and you do not sacrifice any buttons./opt/retropie/configs/all/autoconf.cfg
mupen64plus_hotkeys enable hotkey auto configuration (0)
then go in and edit
/opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg
and set your control to the way you want it to exit out of game. I programmed mine for Z trigger and Start hit together
