[SOFT] Universal XML Scraper V2 - Easy Scrape with High Quality picture
-
@paulyw84 Curious what you're running? Windows 10?
-
@hooperre Yes, running on 64 bit Windows 10
-
@paulyw84 Same. And I was having Windows defender type problems. With previous releases, I wasn't even able to download the .exe or .zip files. Wonder if it's still causing us headaches.
ETA: Even when I disable Windows Defender for it, it will assert itself.
-
@screech Any other suggestions please? Still won't let me scrape. Have checked my antivirus and firewall settings.
-
@PaulyW84 You have this message when you launch a Scrape, UXS try to start the "engine" and engine don't start...
Try to delete your UXS folder (except the main EXE) and relaunch it (it will recreate all the file)
-
@screech still the same unfortunately.
Have tried your suggestion and have also redownloaded the program but still the same. I tried both versions https://github.com/Universal-Rom-Tools/Universal-XML-Scraper/releases/download/2.2.0.3/Universal_XML_Scraper.exe and https://github.com/Universal-Rom-Tools/Universal-XML-Scraper/releases/download/2.2.0.3/Universal_XML_Scraper64.exe have also tried running as administrator.
Have tried scraping off my portable hard drive and also my main hard drive but I get the same message every time that the roms folder can't be reached.
-
@paulyw84 for me, it only run the Silent_UXS shortcut.
Best scraper ever!
-
Hi @screech! Thank you for your soft., is very useful!
I've got a question. There is a way to scrape new roms into an existing list without overwrite the previous one? I say this because sometimes I want to change the default scraped name (for example "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" by "Ninja"), and I do it manually with the option "edit metadata" in the GUI; and then, when I make a new scrap on my list, I would like to keep those changes.
I've tried the "Update XML (Add New Rom)" option in General Configuration, but it doesn't work.
Thank you for your work again!
-
I get path can't reached when I open this program up what up. I even put my ip in the host still no go.
-
Hi,
currently testing different scraper.
Is it possible to get images like this one here: https://www.dafont.com/forum/attach/orig/2/5/253715.jpg
using XMS scraper?Regards
fenris -
@fenris So only the boxart? I believe there are options where you can select what image should be used. If not, it should be possible to edit the profile manually.
-
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
Do you know where i can change that on Windows?Regards
fenris -
@fenris You can change all the options under "Options" > "Visual". Go to "Visuel Type" and set it to "Simple Visual". Then use "2D Cover" under "Default Visual" for the simple box art or "3D cover" for the 3D box art.
What I like to do is to also set "Screenshot" for "Alt Visual" in case there is no cover art available. And also "Wheel" under "Marquee" for the simple style marquee. I hope this helps.
-
Would be cool, if there was a preview.
So we could see what ist would be look like.... -
@fenris
I guess you just have to try the different settings. What you can do though is go over to www.screescraper.fr and look for some of your games. Under "Medias" you can see the different available box art, marquees etc. for each game.See for example Super Castlevania IV:

@screech Hi. This is my first post on this forum, i’ve only recently discovered retropie and i’m building a couple of Pi’s for my brothers for christmas.
I’m using your excellent UXS scraper at the moment. I was more than happy to make a donation to your cause, as this is by far the best scraper i’ve used to date.
I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed to your database and to you especially for all your knowledge and patience in helping all these people with their questions. Good job!
-
Is it possible to add an option to download the 2D Box Side Art? I thought about using side art for a theme I'm making for ES.
-
@screech when scraping for Pegasus Front End, I need for "wheel"/marquee art to be renamed [romname]-logo.file instead of [romname]-marquee.file in order for this to work in the front end.
Is it possible to have UXMLS use this extension instead, to avoid needing renaming a lot of files before and after (to have UXMLS detect which I have and not) as well as changing the entries in the gamelist afterwards?
-
@andershp edit the xml of the profile you're using, in the ProfilsFiles folder and look for something like this:
<Element Type="Picture Marquee"> <Source_Download_Tag>-marquee</Source_Download_Tag> </Element>

Hello, thank you for the scraper! I'm pretty excited to try it out. Looks like i'm not able to connect to the database at the moment, is that due to the website being down? I tried the mirror site and I could browse there, but still getting the same error when trying to run the program. I updated everything to 2.2.0.3 and still getting the errors: universal xml scraper fatal error! (problem connecting to the database).
From other posts, it looks like this is a known issue when the site is down for maintenance. I tried to un/re/install, turned off my A/V for a bit, ran as admin, all with the same results. I'm sure if the site says its down, that is my problem. Always my luck. The one night that I have to sit down and mess with it for more than 30 mins and the site is down. lol oh well.
I'm using windows 7 - 64 bit, and UXS 2.2.0.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again!
Here are my LOGS.txt file.
