      That is,

If i have a SNES USB gamepad that I set up and use for the SNES emulator, can i map it out as a genesis controller when under my sega emulator etc?

In other words, can there be different controller schemes set up that stick with the respective emulator?

Oh, and is a N64 controller the best overall controller that has the most compatibility with different controller layouts?

      Thanks!!

@KillerQ by default it should do all this. you configure your controller once and then all systems are mapped in a sensible way.

The images on this wiki page show the scheme for a default config.

And you can customize core specific configs doing this way.

Ok, that makes sense. I always thought those layouts were suggestions of HOW to manually map the controllers. I didn't realize that those were automatically set up after the initial controller config. That's pretty cool.

            Thanks again.

Ok, so let's say that I set up in the nintendo 64 controller exactly as shown in those default diagrams. When I go over to the Genesis emulator it looks like the key mappings for the 6 button layout wouldn't match seamlessly.

Do I have to reconfigure the controller once in the Genesis emulator and will that stay way whenever I go there?

I'm basically trying to recreate the 6 button layout of the genesis on my n64 controller as true to original as possible.

@meleu thanks, I needed that. Lol.

I'll head over soon and give it a whirl.

@KillerQ you can set different mappings even for specific games. ;-)
