Manage long list of games

Nice day to all :)

I'm building a mini-pi for my old brother with all Amiga/C64/Spectrum games.
I've encountered a nasty yet prevedible problem: games list for that platforms are ENORMOUS.

I'm trying to find a good way to retain all games (for discovering new unplayed games!) but mantaining some kind of 'order'.

A favourite list would be the perfect solution. Unfortunatelly this option doesn't exist. It's present inside experimental ES branch but has some nasty bug that I don't like.

RecalBox has it (and in a very good way), but they don't allow any kind of costumization and unfortunatelly I wanted to insert a startup movie; would be easy on Retropie, impossible on RecalBox.

Anyone has some idea on how to maintain orderly a list of 1000-1500 games?

My only super-long games lists are MAME. I put mine in folders (have a Classics, Top down shooters, VS fighters, Beat-em-Ups, etc. folders) to keep them better organized. If you're talking about like 10,000 games, might be best to put them in A through Z folders. You can also use the left/right shoulder buttons to quickly page down and up (and after holding down the button for a while it will quickly scroll through everything).

Separate folders and shoulder button navigation are both excellent options that are often overlooked. You can also press 'Select' in any Emulation Station list menu and navigate through the alphabet to resume list navigation at the chosen letter. All of these tricks combined makes short work out of any rom list.

For now I'm stick to default ES version. Maybe in future the experimental branch would resolve all it problem.
