[SOLVED] RetroArch crashes on raspi2 after a successfull update from source
-
After a fresh 4.1 install on my raspi2 I updated RetroArch from source. I checked the RetroPie-Setup logs and I'm pretty sure that all the steps expected to be done when choosing "Update from source" finished with no problems. But since then I can't launch any game with RetroArch (runcommand.log).
I updated RetroArch from source on my Linux Mint x86_64 to check if it's an upstream issue, but RetroArch runs just fine after updating from source in this platform.
I went back to my raspi2 and updated RetroArch from binary, and then I can play again. I just can't get the bleeding edge RetroArch on raspi.
Pi Model: 2 B
RetroPie Version Used: 4.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
Emulator: any libretro core. The problem seems to be on RetroArch.
How to replicate the problem: update RetroArch from source and try to launch any game with RetroArch.
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log: https://ghostbin.com/paste/sxva9

@meleu Looks like an upstream issue - you should open a ticket.
-
I just updated from source and it works fine here (rpi3), so it's probably the last RetroArch commit from a few mins ago that has resolved it (or it's something else triggering it on your system due to a different config).
-
Even if it doesn't happen with RetroPie on Linux Mint x86?
-
@meleu Sure - the crash was related to GL - your desktop uses opengl, the RPI GLES.
-
@BuZz OK, I'll try with default retroarch.cfg.

Did you try updating again from source ? There was a commit just mins ago you may not have had when you built it related to GLES.
-
@BuZz I'm compiling now...
-
@BuZz Yeah! It's working now. I'm not sure but maybe it was solved by this GLES related commit. Thanks!

@meleu Yes. That's what I was saying :-)
