Hi guys, I'm just finishing off my bartop 2 player arcade. I have all the buttons and joysticks mapped out correctly. I have configured all the buttons in the game pad configuration menu. The issue I have got is I cannot have the start and select buttons working for both player 1 and 2. This also causes me not to be able to exit out of a game using the start and select button combination. I have used an xinmo interface and also applied the USB quirks so it can identify both game pads.

Ideally I would like player 1 & 2 start buttons working along with player 1&2 select buttons while still having the ability to exit from a game by pressing both start and select together.

Thanks and any help is much appreciated

        Howdy Friend,
By design RetroPie will only let one player one have the hotkey so thats the only one that can exit out of the game. If it were me I would just set up an additional button to exit rather than fiddling with a hotkey combination.

Thanks for the reply, how would I go about setting up a buttons for exiting games ? Can both my 1 player and 2 player start buttons work to pause games and join in games ?

@Sturgy86 take a look at the RetroArch's all_users_control_menu option. It should help.

Completely lost and have a fried brain now. All buttons work great when navigating the menus but when a game is on the buttons seem to stop working. For example I load a game and the only button that then works is player 2 start button to pause the game ! Is there a complete guide for xinmo button mapping including adding a button command to exit back out of a game ? Another issue I'm having is on a 2player game it will say player 2 press start for that person to join in, when the player 2 start button is hit nothing happens.

Sorry for the confusion but I'm at the point where I'm going to throwing it out the window soon !!

I can successfully get to the point where it recognises 2 gamepads, after that it all goes pear shaped no matter what I try.

@Sturgy86 we need more info to help you. But first you should read this wiki page and see if you can solve it yourself:

                Cheers!
