[Testing] Kodi 17.0 stable/final available for RetroPie!
-
@FlyingTomahawk Yeah, my iBuffallo worked no problem. Did you hot plug the controller? Try rebooting with the controller attached and try again. (EDIT: Yeah, I saw that, sorry. -Did you add the SNES controller in the options?)
-
Yes I did add the SNES controller from the get more option. Also rebooted a couple times. No luck.
Can I or do I have to edit an xml file somewhere? -
@FlyingTomahawk File path: /home/pi/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/peripheral.joystick/resources/buttonmaps/xml/linux
File name: USB_2-axis_8-button_gamepad_8b_2a.xml
Content:
<?xml version="1.0" ?> <buttonmap> <device name="USB,2-axis 8-button gamepad" provider="linux" buttoncount="8" axiscount="2"> <configuration /> <controller id="game.controller.snes"> <feature name="a" button="0" /> <feature name="b" button="1" /> <feature name="down" axis="+1" /> <feature name="left" axis="-0" /> <feature name="leftbumper" button="4" /> <feature name="right" axis="+0" /> <feature name="rightbumper" button="5" /> <feature name="select" button="6" /> <feature name="start" button="7" /> <feature name="up" axis="-1" /> <feature name="x" button="2" /> <feature name="y" button="3" /> </controller> </device> </buttonmap>

@Rascas It did. Can you define "problematic"?
Some addons are bad programmed, others not updated for a very long time, etc. This can cause problems on Kodi updates. Most of what ppl call "Builds" can cause problems also.
@FlyingTomahawk In Kodi 17, you shouldn't need to edit xml keymaps, specially with that joystick which is confirmed to be working. Did you follow the configuration steps in the first post ? The log file may help to see what's your problem.

i just want to say: i hate the new look of kodi. i hate the new "funcionality". i hate it all, wish this update never happend :/
-
@xFlesk Some people don't like the new look, but you can install the old Confluence skin. Or downgrade and hold Kodi packages.
When a change is big is difficult to please everybody I guess. -

I thought I would like it more than I have. Right now, it feels like my hands are tied behind my back, but I'm learning to live in it bit by bit.

When a change is big is difficult to please everybody I guess.i dont like downgrades, i like to have all my software up-to-date. i think im goin to follow your idea and install the confluence skin (simply did not know its possible ;) ) thank you
-
@xFlesk I would recommend a skin called Xonfluence which is based on Confluence but includes a lot of customisation options (If that's your thing). Worth checking it out as an update for Krypton was released.

File path: /home/pi/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/peripheral.joystick/resources/buttonmaps/xml/linux
Interesting, I am missing the folder structure after /home/pi/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/
/peripheral.joystick/resources/buttonmaps/xml/linux is simply not there. I created that folder structure and added the iBuffalo USB_2-axis_8-button_gamepad_8b_2a.xml file in there but still no luck. I am now uninstalling everything and will start from scratch again. Maybe something went wrong during the update from Jarvis to Krypton?
Oh and btw. I like the new interface. Kinda reminds me of bootstrap.
UPDATE:
Re-installed everything. Still no luck. This time it installed directly Kodi 17 Krypton, so no update was done.
Still no controllers work except for the keyboard. -
@FlyingTomahawk That's very weird. Did you check the Kodi version after it installed that it was 17.0 compiled on Feb 3rd 2017?
-
Yes it is Kodi 17 from February 3rd.
I uninstalled everything again and will take a break for now. I'll give it another go later with a fresh mind. Thanks for the help and patience.
-
@FlyingTomahawk Don't worry, I'm having my own problems with it. Kodi has crashed 3 times in the last 2 hours and wiped all my settings. Gonna do a totally fresh install. There were so many changes made to get to 17, a lot of code was totally re-written so I expected problems as I have been reading about them on other platforms. Good luck. It looks like I'm in for a long night!
-
@FlyingTomahawk Did you confirm that the addon peripheral-joystick is enabled in "My addons" ?
-
@Rascas said in [Testing] Kodi 17.0 stable/final available for RetroPie!:
peripheral-joystick
Re-installed again and checked under My add-ons -> Game add-ons -> Controller profiles, I can see two controllers, the Default Controller and the SNES one.
Both say something about Team Kodi version 1.0.3
Still I am not able to navigate through Kodi with any gamepad or any controller that I have except for the keyboard.
Guess I'll have to stick a bit longer to Netflix then till I can figure out what is going on. -

Nope, that one is definitely missing. I just installed Kodi 17 on my PC and there I can see that tile icon. A icon that looks like a remote.
That one is not showing in my Kodi 17 on my RPi3.
Is there anyway to add that? -

Is there anyway to add that? How did you install Kodi 17 ? If you install it via RetroPie-Setup, it is installed automatically. If you have enabled the unstable repo in the first post, kodi-peripheral-joystick (it is a binary apt/debian package) is also installed but it is recommended to remove the unstable repo now, instructions on the first post.
