@Rascas Has anyone been able to sucessfully upgrade to RC1? I keep getting a 404 error "file not found".

Works fine on my rpi3. Upgraded from (new) kodi 16 installation (RetroPie-Setup) to beta7 and then to RC1 as instructed.

          Thank you Rascas!

@apoteker : Where do you get this error?

@apoteker You have atleast one typo, a forward slash is missing between armv7 and binary. Make sure your list file is exactly like in the first post.

@Rascas This is what I am pasting:

                sudo su
                echo "deb http://pipplware.pplware.pt/pipplware/dists/unstable/main/binary /" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pipplware_unstable_armv7.list
                echo "deb http://pipplware.pplware.pt/pipplware/dists/unstable/armv7/binary /" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pipplware_unstable_armv7.list
                apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade -y
                apt-get install kodi-peripheral-joystick kodi-inputstream-adaptive kodi-inputstream-rtmp
                exit

It looks as if the forward slash is there. Does everything look correct here? Thanks for your help.

That's correct, but that's not what you have in the errors in your previous message, so check it again.

@Rascas Thanks for your time in looking at this. I just cut and paste and this error keeps occurring. I have copied the entire log and entered it at http://paste.ubuntu.com/23728135/ . I hope that is the proper procedure. I'm not sure why this keeps happening. Again, thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

Like I said before the error is because you have a missing forward slash. Probably not in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pipplware_unstable_armv7.list but probably in some other file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d, most likely from a previous wrong copy attempt. You have to check all files in that dir for yourself, and correct/remove what is wrong.
Anyway, Kodi 17 should already be installed/updated.

@lostless Did you follow the link in first post to configure your joystick ? Do you receive a message like the one in the screenshoot when you connect your joysticks ? What are the exact models that you are trying ?

I figured it out. Some how when it tried to install the driver, every time, it would ,abort the process. I just copied and pasted the line for the driver install and it's working now.

But when kodi 17 is fully released it's going to be added to the default installation of kodi right?

i've managed to install this a couple of times now. first time i tried to go straight over the top of the existing kodi 16 build i had with addons preloaded and it didnt do too well.
so formatted card reinstalled retropie and then kodi and then the update.
all great up until i loaded a build that i figure was too intense for the pi and it was too slow, going back to retropie was ok but i lost control of start and select buttons so couldnt restart the pi.
just done another clean install as above, retropie/kodi/kodi 17 and kodi wont load at all now and again back in retropie i have lost control of my start and select buttons after the first try at starting kodi.
is this something to do with the joystick support?

@pugwilfy Kodi joystick support is independent of the EmulationStation and emulators joystick, so installing it won't change anything in your joystick configuration from RetroPie.
Builds and unoficial addons are not supported in Kodi foruns and neither are here. If you have problems with them you have to ask support with the people who makes them.

For everyone who gets buffer issue in Kodi 17, the old way of solving this doesn't work on Kodi 17. I found the following guide on YouTube and it works. I tested it yesterday:
