No sound on one Vizio TV, the other works just fine, no SSH
-
Pi Model: B2
RetroPie Version Used: 3.6 is the newest one I can find for the pi
Built From: Berryboot
USB Devices connected: keyboard, mouse, xbox 360 controller, wifi dongle
Controller used:xbox360
Error messages received:none
Attachment of config files: Id love to, but because berryboot hides it, I cant find it outside of the berryboot boot screen. SSH isnt working
How to replicate the problem: Move pi from one TV to the otherSo I set up the pi on my 42in Vizio. Everything is working fine. Moved it upstairs to play in the bedroom on the 22in vizio, no audio at all. Ive forced audio through hdmi both through the gui and through the terminal, nothing happens. No sounds in roms, no round in the retropie menu, nothing. Whats worse is that when I went to get the config file and overclock it for n64 games, I couldnt find it on the sd card. Turns out its somewhere hidden inside a file or something because its there when I boot via berryboot. When I try to ssh in to edit it on the fly, SSH doesnt work at all. I put in the ip address and port, never connects. Ive made sure SSH was enabled on the pi to no avail. This is the 2nd reinstall Ive done. Ive searched and so far nothing Ive seen works. Any help is appreciated.

Why? 4.1 is available from https://retropie.org.uk/download/ where have you been searching?
-
@lilbud In the config file?
-
@rbaker Thats what I could find. IDK. Hell I cant figure out how to load it w/o berry boot. The instructions dont show anything different. Just says use berryboot.
-
@jediknight36 No idea what you are reading but the instructions are very clear:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation
Never used Berryboot, no idea what it even is. -
@jediknight36 You did check this first right?
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first -
@rbaker In all my searches, Ive never seen those instructions. Everything i can find says use berryboot. So do I have to start over again 3x?
-
@rbaker I copied and pasted it in my OP. https://retropie.org.uk/download/ See? Berryboot

What? Are you joking? It's in bold at the top of the screen! The wiki page contains the instructions. What are you searching? Where are you searching? In google you type Retropie an it brings you to the site. No more searching needed. You have to be joking.
Everything i can find says use berryboot
Not the instructions for Retropie

BerryBoot
We also offer up images for use with BerryBoot, although we are afraid we cannot offer support for them as we don’t use them ourselves – but feel free to post on the forum if you have trouble. They can be downloaded directly from GitHub – https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/releases -
@rbaker Im not sure why the hostility. Im lost here and Im asking for help. Im sorry if you didnt see the page Im posting from the offical page. Im sorry I missed this github page. I thought I was following instructions. At the end of the day, I still have no audio.
-
@jediknight36 I see it but I have to be honest, I only go there for the images. Berryboot appears to be an alternative, never noticed it until this moment. I prefer the easy way as outlined in the instructions. Not being hostile, apologies if my post comes across as that. I am just amazed that "your searches" never led you to the instructions especially as you agreed to read https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first when you signed up which points you to them.
Anyway, my advice is use the latest version, go into settings and select audio through HDMI on the retropie setup. If that doesn't work, search the many posts on this site on how to force it to output the audio that way. You are unlikely to get much support from such an old version that was released back in March.

Ok, so reinstall with 4.1
removed the hash from in front of hdmi_drive2 (now that I can see the config file) and that seemed to do it. That berryboot was the main cause like you said @rbaker , I will say this though: the config file looks way different than a regular raspberry pi one. But Ill see about any other changes in another thread. Moral of the story is skip berry boot if you can.
