      Dear all,

currently I am trying to get neogeo running, but struggle:

      Pi Model: 3B
      RetroPie Version Used: latest
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: -
      Controller used: NES30 Pro
      Error messages received: http://pastebin.com/w0WJQvrC
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): http://pastebin.com/w0WJQvrC
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable) neogeo
How to replicate the problem: I put neogeo.zip into the /roms/neogeo directory + 1 game and after starting, I am just getting a blackscreen and ES returned back to the menu. I tried several neogeo.zip.

your log looks like it was copied from the screen and not a file, as it's missing the end of one of the lines so i can't actually see the game filename you're trying to load.

neogeo uses lr-fbalpha by default, so you need the neogeo.zip and game both from the FBA 0.2.97.39 romset. i guess one or both isn't from that romset for you.

You renamed "mslug3.zip" to "Metal Slug 3.zip" ? Did you read the wiki and forum rules ? I guess i know the answer...

@barbudreadmon i have read both, but didnt know that I am not allowed to rename it.

@dankcushions yeah sorry, I copied it from nano :) It looks like that the game was from another romset version. Thanks!

Well, the fact that the name of the zip file decide which game will be launched is written on the wiki.

And honestly, the opposite make no sense : if you randomly rename zip files, how could the emulator know what game it is ? How could the emulator find parent rom if it needs it ? You think he'll scan up to 10 GB of zip files and/or compare with his database of 10000 games to find the right one ? Launching a game would be pretty long... And what would be the purpose of having a software who put the right file into the right zip with the right name if the name is irrelevant ?
