Kodi autoscrolling and types backwards
-
I've got kodi installed as a port in retropie, I can open kodi but I can't move the menu bed with the mouse (bar moves and auto homes). If I use the keyboard and time the down push right, I can get into system. Upon entering system, and trying to add installers, I noticed the type is coming in backwards.
I have tried updating kodi from inside retropie's menu, even uninstalling and reinstalling it twice (one with and once without a reboot in-between removal and install).
I know that hardware if fine as kodi installed on the same card using noobs works fine (all be it a different OS running it).
I also noticed that the uninstalled does not remove the setting I had changed in kodi, such as start inside the system folder rather than at the desktop. Don't know where or how to find these files to remove/replace them.
Anyone got an idea of what's wrong and how to correct it? -
-Update-
Tried a fresh download of Retropie (for the pi3) from the downloads section here. No update or tweaks of any kind, except for enabling kodi, and it's doing the same. -
@davesMODs It is most likely that was some change that you have done to Kodi. Remove the folder /home/pi/.kodi (it is a hidden folder) which is where all Kodi settings are stored. Removing Kodi from RetroPie-Scripts, doesn't remove its configuration files.
Also like was said many times in the forum, after some recent kernel updates, some joysticks aren't working properly and can make kodi behave like that or even crash it. So make sure you don't have any joysticks when testing
If that doesn't fix the problem, post your kodi log.

@Rascas Thank you, I wasn't sure if the removal was complete or not. If that file is left behind and hidden, that could do it. I'll work on it tonight and see how it goes.

I tried the removal of kodi and also removed the kodi folder.... verified it was gone with Ubuntu.
Reinstalled kodi and it was no different. I did copy and past the kodi crash log file using Putty, that's here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1phm5FM-Qa5hGfrGAvWBOxUVET0QWNHSdXVN26JLpa9U/editAnd I also made a short video showing the problem, with a link to the log in the description here
I also did try a fresh install (wiped sd and reloaded the ISO of Retropie for pi3), was identical. IDK if SD cards could be a problem as it's doing it on all of mine, but, if I install openELEC instead of Retropie (loose the gamming function), there's no problem with Kodi at all. -
Do you have any gamepad/joystick connected ? Please provide all information here, post the full Kodi log, that one is incomplete:

@Rascas
Thank you for taking the time to help with this, completely new to this...The units a pie 3 with 8 gig SD chip for now, once working I plan to copy the image with win32diskimager and put it on a larger card so there's room to add games and such.
I have a Logitech F310 controller, 1 USB/ Bluetooth mouse and 1 USB/ Bluetooth keyboard connected for controls. The controller only works during retropie, but the keyboard and mouse "work" as in the video for Kodi. I can't say their not the problem, but on this and another card, if I set it up with the noobs version of kodi, they do.
The image I used for retropie was the pie 2/3 from here https://retropie.org.uk/download/ and I installed Kodi again after removing it completely as suggested before.
The log file I opened in Ubuntu and copied and pasted it to a .txt to use in windows (didn't know how else to import it), but it is everything that was in the log file.

As for power, I'm using a 2.5amp USB power supply.

@davesMODs Remove all your joysticks before starting Kodi. Check if the problem still occurs.

@Rascas
Well, I feel a bit... like WHY DID I THINK OF THAT! Removing the controller after navigation to Kodi, but before launching it (pressing enter on the keyboard to launch) worked. I tried it in minutes of you posting, but I got a message about 2 posts in 24 hours on my account when I tried to reply...
Glad to get it working, but it does make me wonder... is there a way to fix it, so it doesn't have to keep being removed each time?
If you don't mind me asking, to learn for "next time".... what in the log made you suspect the controller? -
@davesMODs ah. Yes that's a common issue. I forgot about that one. Would have helped I'd you posted the information requested on the read this first page, would have identified the problem immediately.
Install Kodi 17 manually or wait til Kodi 17 stable is released with retropie.
