I have problems with BlueMSX and openMSX.

The problem with BlueMSX is the following, after uploading the three files (mentioned in the confit.ini file) in the folder (The NMS-8280 model) with the config.ini file I do't know where to setup the model of my choice? And as it only start the only game I have in .mx2 format Hinotori.
And is it normal that with the C-Bios I can't type like on a normal keyboard?

The problem with openMSX is that after choosing a game for instance Ys 1 it goes back to the menu.

It's a true bummer I can't get it to work as I always played on my grandfathers MSX (The Philips NMS-8280)

I tried to figure it out as I found out that select and X goes to some menu.

      Thanks in advance

First of all, you need to post a little bit more info on your setup to get the best possible help, as noted in the link at the top of this and every page. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

I do't know where to setup the model of my choice?

This is done in the core options by by pressing 'select+x' to invoke the Rgui menu after a title has been launched.

I can't type like on a normal keyboard?

To get keyboard support in the RetroArch MSX cores you need to add the following line to /opt/retropie/configs/msx/retroarch.cfg.

        input_libretro_device_p2 = "3"

The problem with openMSX is that after choosing a game for instance Ys 1 it goes back to the menu.

Have you tried changing the default machine to be emulated?

Thanks but why do .dsk files don't start automatically run when they have a file names like "autoexec.bas"? Makes me think it's just the C-Bios that is loaded when I start a game.

I can't speak to that, but I can confirm that .dsk files run just fine in OpenMSX when launched from Emulation Station without any additional consideration, so long as the noted setup process has been completed.

But will I need to upload and if so where, the bios roms from the mentioned systems? And the problem I have with openMSX is when I opened a game it won't run and goes back to the menu. It won't even show the default MSX basic screen like when you start the MSX without any floppy.

                https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/msx#changing-default-machine-to-be-emulated

"By default openMSX will emulate a MSX2+ using the c-bios ROMs. To change this, you need to start openMSX, either by starting a game or from the commandline by typing /opt/retropie/emulators/openmsx/bin/openmsx"

Try using the second option to launch OpenMSX from the command-line without a game.

Why is running MSX on a emulator so annoying arghhh. I mean it's confusing me so much. Thanks for the help so far :) It's a shame that BlueMSX doesn't run and I can't find a tutorial for changing to a real BIOS.

Some would say that getting all this up and running is the true game itself; and after you get past the urge to punch those people in their stupid faces, it's not such a bad thought really.

Also, you may have some luck using the DSK2ROM utility for conversion.
