Hi all! i got my dad a pi3 for xmas and installed retro pie on it since he loves playing old megadrive and snes games but theres one major problem. His favourite game is PGA tour, i have both PGA tour and PGA tour II installed, both launch fine and allow me to set up a new game etc. but as soon as the cut scene intro finishes im left with a black screen, no text, nothing, its the same for both roms. ive tried different versions of each rom and even tried switching the emulator used to launch the game but the problem is persistent. other roms like sonic work without issue. i also made sure that everything was upto date but now im all out of ideas. any help would be amazing as i would love to get a few games in before i need to head back to uni. thanks!

I should have both of those games, if no one does it before me I will test them on my system as soon I get home from work.

For what it's worth, I was able to successfully launch and begin play on four of the five PGA titles in lr-picodrive, with the exception being 'PGA European Tour'. The game launched without exiting, but did not progress into the actual game. This behavior was the same in lr-genesis-plus-gx.

              • PGA European Tour seemed to run fine.
              • PGA Tour 96 had extreme graphics problems in lr_picodrive. Played far better in lr_genesis_plus_gx.
              • PGA Tour Golf locked up after the 3D course preview in lr_picodrive, lr_genesis_plus_gx, and dgen.
              • PGA Tour Golf II ran fine in both libretro cores.
              • PGA Tour Golf III ran fine in both libretro cores.

On a side note, PGA Tour Golf ran fine on Fusion 3.64 for Windows.

@Rookervik said in Megadrive roms not working, please help!:

With these two results varying so much, I wonder if the rom sets are an issue. I'm using an older 'Goodset' collection, whereas most people are now using 'No-Intro'.

Edit: While 'PGA European Tour' will still not load for me, I retested 'PGA Tour Golf' and it is indeed locking up after the 3D preview on mine as well.

On a totally unrelated note: these are nifty little 3D hack games. More impressive than I was expecting. Though the graphics on most of them looked like they were designed for the SNES and just thrown in a color garbage can converter for the Genesis graphics. But I must say, PGA Tour had some jammin' music :D

Also, please note that I am using retropie 4.1 and whatever emulators come with that. They are probably a little outdated... and better? Hehe.
