Junk Files in ROM Selection Screen #romtrouble
-
I hope this has not been asked and answered already... when I go into my rom selection(Nintendo for example) I have a weird list of files that are non playable. They appear like this. ._super Mario brothers
Later on down the list the playable file super Mario brothers appears. When you have a couple of hundred roms to scroll through this is a huge problem. Is there some simple way to get rid of these without individually deleting? I'm sure there is some simple solution I just can't figure it out. The files with (._filename ) do not appear in the rom folder when I connect to the pi wirelessly.
Thanks for the assistance! -
@timothy_atwood it's this issue: https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/issues/68
you can mass delete in an SFTP client like filezilla (or using the command line if you are familiar)

What's with the hash tag? #doesn't actually work here

@timothy_atwood they are Mac OS files that tell Mac OS how to display folders and files like tags and what app opens a type of file. Mac OS will generate them when you transfer single files to any disk. I just delete by pressing select in emulation station and select edit rom info then delete.
If I need to do a mass delete, I just use onyx. It has a feature called app double erase and just select the rom server and erase them. -
@lostless thanks for the info is onyx an app on the computer or hidden within retropie? I am a total noob and not very tech savvy. I really appreciate the help

@timothy_atwood onyx is a Mac OS app. It does a lot much more. It's just one feature that it does.
