      sorry will read the rules right away. and thank you for your answer, but i don't understand anything you are saying, sorry I'm really an noob, but i will learn.

      i have a raspberry pi 3 with retropie installed, when i start a game i press A and then i get into a menu were i can change all the setting also the video mode. my question is, is there a way to see in the menu what the default video mode is (the one that's currently running)?

        @MGL not until you have chosen a mode - but I might change that actually.

        the tvservice command can be typed over ssh or into a terminal directly and will tell you the mode (eg quit emulationstation with f4 and type it in)

          Actually, I think it does show the current mode - at the top of the runcommand menu - I thought it only did when you switched, but I think that was already changed.

            it worked, i typed in "tvservice -s" and it showed me my video mode.
            but i think i also got something wrong....because what i want do is, to stretch 4:3 to 16:9. but as it looks the video mode is the wrong place to do that. do you know by any chance were i can do that ?

            by the way you don't see the mode in the runcommand menu if you never changed it, i checked.

              @MGL it does - but perhaps you are on an old version (I don't know as you didn't provide the RetroPie version you are running on).

              To change aspect ratio use the configuration editor - https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

                @BuZz

                i have version 4.1, just downloaded it today. my aspect ratio is already set to 16:9 (CEA 16:9 1920 x1080 @ 60 Hz progressive), but the games run still at 4:3.

                somehow i need to tell the rom to play in 16:9

                the Configuration-Editor is a good hint, a lot of cool suff i can play around with

                  @MGL Yes - using the configuration editor as I have just said.

                  You can update retropie-setup if you want the latest version of runcommand that shows the current mode.
