2016 Year in Review
-
Well, 2016 is coming to a close, (or already has, depending on where you live.)
This has been one hell of a year, for both the world, and for RetroPie. So I decided to look back.
Events in the World
In 2016 we lost many celebrities, and if tried to list them all, It would be 2018 by the time I'm done. In this year we lost...
- David Bowie - Musician
- Glenn Frey - Guitarist for The Eagles
- Alan Rickman - Severus Snape in the Harry Potter Movie
- Prince - Musician
- Muhammad Ali - Fighter
- Gene Wilder - Played Wily Wonka as well as many other characters
- Arnold Palmer - Golfer
- Carrie Fisher - Actress, played Princess/General Leia
- Debbie Reynolds - Actress - Mother of Carrie Fisher. Played many roles
RetroPie
- Finally got gridview for ES
- Video Preview instead of images
- Saw the release of many themes
- Attract Mode
- Too many systems added to count here
Gaming
This was a big year for video games. We saw games that are brand new IPs. Finally saw the release of games that we thought would never come out, (Final Fantasy 15, The Last Guardian, etc) The Nintendo Switch was unveiled, which many are excited for.Retro gaming was pretty big this year. Thanks to Nintendo, we have many new members of the forum due to the NES Mini fiasco. Lost Kirby games were found.
For gaming in 2017, some franchises will make a return, (Crash, Parappa the Rappa)
In Closing
2016 will probably be seen as the year we never speak of again. But many good things happened, many bad things happened. But this was a good year overall.
Happy New Year Retropie

@lilbud don't forget the lost Rayman SNES prototype. Doubt the devs will ever release the dump of that though. Probably will repackage under virtual console or port for the switch or something

Probably sell it on Steam, once/if they finish it
