Issue with PiFBA and PS3 controller
-
Recently got a Raspberry Pi 3 and have installed Retropie 4.1.8.
With most roms everything is working fine however when I try to run some roms in the pifba emulator my wireless PS3 controller appears to stop working and none of the buttons work so I have to restart the Pi by pulling the plug - which I'm sure can corrupt the SD Card :(
I was thinking this might have to do with the select/coin insert issue which I have read about in some other pages on this site - but not 100% sure.
Do I need to change the hotkey used on retropie like other pages suggest? I was thinking of changing the hotkey button to my left bottom trigger - will that fix it?
I'm a bit of a noob so have confused myself
Which config file do I put the input_enable_hotkey_btn = "8" command?
That is if that is the issue and not something else!

Why using pifba? That core is a pain to setup and old. It has its own config file.
Try to find the right rom set for the lr-fbalpha core.
Read more about it here. -
@FlyingTomahawk pifba is a

pita. Avoid it at all costs. I spent hours trying to get a wired XB360 controller set up as player 2. It just refused to work. -

There is no such thing in pifba. I can't see any reason why you would use pifba on rpi3 though, except if you are unable to read a documentation.

How are you guys not using PiFBA? How do you run MvC, Sf3 and all the other Capcom games? I have been trying to get it to work with lr-fbalpha but haven't been successful at all
-
@eVenom You probably have the wrong romset - Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first - check the wiki for info

I had the same issues at first and I was sure to have the right roms until I was proven otherwise.
Now I got the right roms and all games run with lr-fbalpha.
Search for v0.2.97.39 romsets and you should be all good. Forget about PiFBA that is old and obsolete. -
It had been some time since the last one who said "my roms don't work with libretro-fbalpha", i suppose i should be happy, but nonetheless, it still bothers me how some people, when they try fixing their issue, don't find the thousands of webpages (literally) mentioning an arcade rom is for a specific emulator + version, and why it is like that.

Because lr-fbalpha runs everything using the v0.2.97.39 romset.
