[Theme] CRT
-
@alphatoanant Yeah I got the same problem. Just waiting for the update now I guess.
-
Outstanding. Do you mind if i showcase this theme and share it in some other groups?
-
I have followed the instructions and transfered the folder "es-theme-crt-master" to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/themes but when i shall change theme there is nothing there? Im on Retropie 4.2!
What im doing wrong? -

What im doing wrong?Put the unzipped theme folder that you download into /home/pi/.emulationstation/themes.
Create the 'themes' folder if it isn't already there.

ofcourse, here is my path ! -
@retronerd
Does mini master show up? Try renaming the theme folder To just CRT -
@retronerd is there another folder called "crt" within the folder?
-
Also, triple check that the them folder isn't accidentally empty.
-
@retronerd the folder you copied it to isn't the one you're being told to.
You seem to have copied it to /opt/RetroPie/configs/...
And it's being suggested to copy it to
/home/pi/.emulationstation/themes
Different folder.
If not,
/etc/emulationstation/themes
May also work.

That was the first thing I told him. He insisted it was in the correct place as you and I stated.
-
I don't have rpi, but i'm 95% sure it's /home/pi/.emulationstation/themes
-
@pjft fun fact.
/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/themes
is symlinked to/home/pi/.emulationstation/themes
so it really doesn't matter which you add it to because both are valid. -
@herb_fargus huh. Always learning. I stand corrected! Thanks for keeping us honest.
What about the etc/emulationstation/themes folder?
Is it used in addition to that, it supersedes it? Mine are in this last folder, I believe.

@pjft https://retropie.org.uk/docs/EmulationStation/#editing-es-configs explains the reasoning for the methods behind manual edits and why it is important to put them in specific places.
Generally if two files are named the same then preference will be given to the
home
location before theetc
location (if its named differently, I believe themes from both locations show). Theetc
location requires root to be updated and is overridden by the setup script anytime the theme is installed or updated, whereas themes in thehome
folder don't get mucked about with the setup script and therefore is the recommended place for any custom edits that you don't want to be ovewritten. -
