No Audio on certain N64 games
-
Hi all,
Very new to the RetroPie community.
Bought a Raspberry Pi3, which came loaded with a Linux based RetroPie EmulaionStation frontend I believe, and lots of roms preloaded
I connect the device to the TV via HDMI, including running audio via HDMI on my TV
Every single game in NES/SNES/Genesis/MAME arcade work perfect with audio.
Tested a few games on the Nintendo 64, and had the following results:
Both super mario kart 64 and super smash bros - works perfect, including audio.
Goldeneye 007 and Diddy Kong Racing - game loads, works functionality wise etc, but no audio at all. Havent had time to test any further games on N64, as just heading to bed now.
I checked what game settings I could in the GUI i.e. the only real option was to set the default emulator, but the settings appear the same on all games for N64 - that is simply "Default Emulator" is being used. It appears theres only one emulator installed anyway - Mupen64plus, so I could choose another emulator regardless.
All I could find online, was troubleshooting for no audio on Mupen64Plus altogether i.e. that is, troubleshooting an issue where ALL games having no audio. In these cases, most of the time its just an output setting for the emulator, where its pushing to 3.5mm instead of HDMI.
I could not find out why select games have an issue.
To add, even the troubleshooting involved i.e. config file editing for Mupen, appears to be for the N64 emulator in general, not just certain games. In other words, the troubleshooting is pointing to ensure that audio outputs to HDMI via the config file for the emulator. But if this were relevant, then ALL my n64 games should have no audio, not just select ones, as all games share the same emulator and config file.
How would it be possible some games get audio, and others dont on the same emulator/config file?
Would anyone have an idea what the issue could be?

You shouldn't be paying money for retropie, it's free. Selling retropie breaks the terms of the licence. Selling retropie with roms pe-loaded is illegal. Best consult the seller for support as this forum cannot support builds that we have no knowledge about. Best to format the card, install the latest version from the downloads page and open a support request after reading https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@meatPi yeah, you should speak to the guy who took your money. Noone here knows what custom configs he has set this image up with.

This is why selling RetroPie builds is popular and easy. They knock up an image, then all the people with issues come here because it's RetroPie.
I feel bad because the people buying it are doubly ripped off when it breaks and are told here that nobody will help unsupported images. 😫
