      Games launch and run fine but after switching to USB audio with this command:

      pcm.!default {
      type hw card 1
      }
      ctl.!default {
      type hw card 1
      }

      The games no longer load. But other games & audio work fine.
      Just Mame fails.
      Thanks in Advance

      Using Pi Zero
      Retropie 4.2
      Clean install

        @Jakerz Which mame ? We ship with about 6 mame emulators.

            @Jakerz Yes but what roms? You need the correct romset to match the mame emulator of your choice, in the case of MAME4ALL, it's 0.37b5.

              Mame4all-pi and USB audio have had long-standing issues so I don't think the rom matters. Here are a couple of possible solutions you could try:

              Let me know how you get on as I am thinking of geting a USB sound card.

                I will give those a shot, it's weird, the mame games will launch fine before changing to USB audio. But as soon as I change it, they fail to launch. It just goes back to the main menu. NES and others work fine with USB audio. I will keep trouble shooting.

                      If you're still using mame4all, then I don't think there's a solution - it's a known problem and since there's no new development is happening for this emulator, it's unlikely it got fixed. I think there was a recent topic with the same symptoms for the latest RetroPie version.

                      Otherwise, please open a new topic instead of bumping a 3 years old topic, and add some info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
