Top requested arcade games for overlays

Anyone want to try out Final Fight (preferably with integer scaling to fit more art)?
-
@greenhawk84 nice overlay!
Unfortunately no time this week to test on Pi. -
@udb23 No this is a scan of the original that would fit in an original cabinet. This would not work with a Pi. I would use this for sampling and creating a 16:9 bezel.

@mrjordaaany sure I can. Will upload them on github both as svg and PSD next weekend. Will provide link here.

@udb23 Thank you :)

Arcade Generic overlays for Vertical oriented screen... ;)

I would really appreciate if you can share the templates with me :)
Templates now available here as vector (svg) and bitmap (png) for libretro @1080p, standard options, scale integer off (lr-mame2003, lr-fba).
PNGs include transparent game area. Side bars in solid color so they are easy to select and replace. Small borders included. -
@udb23 Legend. Thank you.
-
And here's another new overlay ready for a great Classic: AMIDAR.
-
@UDb23 I see this thread hasn't been posted in for a few months. Are you using a different thread when discussing Overlays?
I've been adding overlays and noticed mspacman.cfg had an incorrect name to the png.
Also simbz23 had a few errors I think it was dkong3 and dkongjr. They had -edit in the .cfg file or the png name. They were both part of the Donkey Kong ROMS but I believe it was those two.
-
More details on errors. They prevent the overlays from loading.
mspacman.cfg (This might be an old entry I have)
overlay0_overlay = "mspac_udb-ovl.png"
png:
mspacman_udb-ovl.pngdkong3.cfg:
overlay0_overlay = "dkong3_simbz23_edit-ovl.png"

dkong3_simbz23-ovl.pngdkongjr:
overlay0_overlay = "dkongjr_simbz23_edit-ovl.png"

In this thread I include only those overlays that are (or can) be considered real classic arcade games.
There are of course other new overlays I made meanwhile. Usually post them in separate threads for each one.
You can do a search for "New Overlay"; some results here. -

Ok, so I will try and locate the overlay thread if I run across an issue with a specific overlay?
A quick question for you. I saw in astrob.zip.cfg you had the vertical shader setup but commented out. Is that tough to do? I mean adding it to the configs.
I have all the overlays in use for games I play (which is most of them). Basically what I do is if you create an overlay for a game in my library I add it. Then I go to Dank's vertical shaders and check to see if it's vertical. If it's vertical I add the lines into the game.zip.cfg (I have the regular shader set for global). Lastly I move Dank's vertical shader config to a temp directory so the overlay works properly and just in case I am playing on a TV that's not 1080 I can move it back and disable the overlay. I wish they were dynamic! ;)
Also do Burning Force and Darkstalkers work with the optional overlays that requires video_scale_integer? I like the "boxed" in overlays that surround the screen
they look very sharp. -

If you have a github account you can also post issues in the Repo.

@meleu: would that be difficult ?Also do Burning Force and Darkstalkers work with the optional overlays that requires video_scale_integer? I like the "boxed" in overlays that surround the screen
they look very sharp.I'm not sure I understand your question; for those 2 games the overlay is done with "integer scale" ON: means you have artwork surrounding the game area. Some artwork looks really best with this configuration but you limit the game area size.
Would you like more overlays like these 2 ?
Generally I prefer the "sidebars only" overlays as you get maximum game area. -
@riverstorm Here's a new overlay I just created.

I definitely like using shaders but also using the correct orientation like crt-pi.glslp (horizontal) or crt-pi-vertical.glslp (vertical). I think you pulled some database information for Dank to build the shaders. I set my global to crt-pi.glslp and override the vertical games in the zip.cfg along with the overlay settings.
In your Astro Blaster overlay (astrob.zip.cfg) you already have the vertical shader option set. It's just commented out.

I know you loose some space but they sure look sharp to me. It's not a must as the side bars are really nice too. I just wanted to comment on how sharp they look! :)
How about Wizard of Wor? Here's some Wizard of Wor artwork. Just googling Wizard of Wor arcade shows some cabs and other variations. The one with the hand over plexiglass I just don't remember that version or I was just to focused on the gameplay back in the day. Amazing what you can block out.
Ok I will post any issues I come across in the repo which will be handy.
Moon War looks sharp! I love that "robotic" voice in game.
