      Retropie 4.1 (exactly -_-)

Whatever I do I can't get the wifi to work properly. In the wifi settings, when I first switch the pi on, my access point appears just fine, and I properly enter the password and it gets connected (the ip address and access point name shows up).
But, whenever I try to do something like install kodi, or update retropie, it always fails. And when I go back to wifi settings, it appears to be disconnected, even going to the connect option again returns a "0 ", as in a blank access point. What gives?
