No Wifi Results after using Disconnect/Remove Wifi Config
-
Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 3 - Model B
Power Supply: CanaKit 5V 2.5A Raspberry Pi 3 Power Supply / Adapter / Charger
RetroPie Version: 4.1
Built From: Pre made SD image. (Boots on Micro SD, filesystem is on Flash Drive)
USB Devices: Keyboard, Flash Drive with filesystem on itSo when I got my Pi 3 and setup RetroPie the Wifi worked perfectly. I decided to disconnect from the wifi for awhile using Disconnect/Remove Wifi Config. The next day I wanted to switch back to my main Wifi and now no results are showing up. This is strange because 1) My Wifi is working on my phone and 2) there are multiple other Wifis networks in the area that should show up.
It should be obvious but I'm only speculating that the mentioned action caused the issue, although I can't find information leading me to think one way or the other. The only other possibly related thing I've done is configure wminput bluetooth for Wiimotes but I doubt that's related.

@trigger_death something in here might help. http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/90778/how-to-bring-up-a-wi-fi-interface-from-a-command-line

So sudo iwlist wlan0 scan results in showing the Wifi I intend to use as well as a printer. I'm still not sure how to connect to it but I'm also worried why it's not showing up in the Wifi Menu, does the Disconnect/Remove Wifi Config actually break Wifi through RetroPie?
-
@trigger_death It can do. Go to terminal. Type these commands one after each other following the conclusion. sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Try that first. If you still have problems please come back to me. Reboot after everything has finished btw!
-
Welp that fixed it! Thank you so much! ^_^
Now I'm wondering. What caused this to happen? If it was what I presumed then is there a proper way to disconnect from Wifi?
-
@trigger_death Stop asking questions and clock GoldenAxe! Some people...
-
Okay actually it's not fixed. I tried to connect to my Wifi network and it failed. When I went back to the Connect to Wifi network the list was empty again. -__-
-
@trigger_death So, you got connected? Briefly?
-
Well connected in the sense that it saw all the available Wifis for a brief moment.
-
@trigger_death Power down the Pi in the proper manner. Restart your home router while the Pi is off. Keep the router off for at least a minute. Reboot the router.Wait until it sorts its'self out. Re-connect the Pi to the electricity. What happens?
-
The list is still empty.
-
@trigger_death type iwconfig into the terninal. What is the output. And I mean the Pi terminal...

-
@trigger_death your wifi is off. Do you have an ethernet cable and access to your router?
-
Yes and yes.
-
@trigger_death plug it all in and reboot.
-
If you mean connect my Pi to ethernet, it's been on ethernet this entire time.
-
@trigger_death then post iwconfig output again.
-
@trigger_death Ha! Sorry!
-
I didn't notice any differences. Like I said I've been on ethernet since the start. :P
