I am using Retropie 4.1 and lr-beetle-pce-fast emulator. I have syscard3.pce in the BIOS directory and in the PC Engine ROMS directory. All games that are ROMs all load fine and work great. But I can not get a CD (.bin) to work. I have tried 10 different games. I have edited the .cue file making sure everything is in lower case including .bin.

Here is the output from run command.log

      Parameters: 0 SYS pcengine /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/Ys Book I & II [U][CD][TGXCD1002][Falcom][1990][PCE].cue
      Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-beetle-pce-fast/mednafen_pce_fast_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/pcengine/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/Ys Book I & II [U][CD][TGXCD1002][Falcom][1990][PCE].cue" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
      /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 851: 1323 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-beetle-pce-fast/mednafen_pce_fast_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/pcengine/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/Ys Book I & II [U][CD][TGXCD1002][Falcom][1990][PCE].cue" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg

      Thanks in advance

Are the CD bin and cue files In their own folders?

To get mine working right, I ended up with these files loose in the ROMs directory along with the syscard3.pce file.

Did you edit the inside of the cue file? It has to match too.

Can you post the contents of one of your .cue files here in a code block (surrounded by three backticks on either side)?

                  Here it is:
///FILE "Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective [U][CD][TGXCD1011][Sleuth Publications][1991][PCE][incredible_hark].bin" BINARY
                  TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
                  INDEX 01 00:00:00
                  ///

Well, that looks to be OK. Just FYI, an example of what backticks are can be found in the link I referenced above. When applied it will look like this:

FILE "Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective [U][CD][TGXCD1011][Sleuth Publications][1991][PCE][incredible_hark].bin" BINARY
                    TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
                    INDEX 01 00:00:00

Aha, I just got my first P engine game to load!!!!
I did just find an anomaly in the cue file of the game Y's 1 & 2. the CUE file is correct on my mac laptop in text edit. I opened the cue file in Nano on my pi and the " after .bin was a block in nano. So I changed it to quotes and wala!!!! Y's I and II now loads!!!!

Thanks for everyones help. The problem, is that TEXTEDIT on the mac is throwing some weird character in the .cue file. Now that I have edited the cue file in nano all the CD's are loading!!!

I hope this will help someone else

Ah, nice! TextEdit will indeed mangle text on save if not set to the proper text encoding.

@videofx I hate when that happens! Hopefully there is something like Notepad++ on the Mac that will edit wither the weird formatting.

TextEdit can still be used as long as it's set to save files in the correct encoding. That can be done by going to the "Open and Save" tab in the TextEdit preferences and making sure that the save options are set to “Unicode (UTF-8)”.

Goo dpoint. Unicode is my friend! I wish everyone would standardize on it for non formatted text.

@mediamogul Thanks as soon as you mentioned that I went in to prefs and you were right. So I changed it to Unicode (UTF-8)
