Any chance to get beetle-psx-libretro running on the the rp3b or rp3b+? Or is it still not working?
you can compile it and it should run, but it will be uplayably so=low as it is not optimized for ARM in the way that rearmed is.
I need an alternative to pcsx because you have to use bilinear filtering with this emulator to fix vertical scrolling artifacts. Bilinear Filtering blurs everything sadly and the games look like crap then (I play native resolution via pi2scart hat)
define native resolution? psx games have several resolutions. this sounds like a setup issue.

Playing Valkyre Profile and Lunar at the moment. Both 320x240 games afaik. When a prerendered Background is being scrolled vertically you get horizontal lines that tear the image. You can only fix it by activating Bilinear Filtering which sadly destroys the retro look of the games. I was hoping that this problem is missing when using beetle. It has a more accurate emulation from what i heard.

@yuke unfortunately more accurate emulation takes horsepower that the Raspberry Pi doesn’t have. Your use case may require a more powerful PC to give you the best CRT experience.

now almost certain this be a config problem. pcsx is actually fairly accurate as a software renderer. perhaps someone with a CRT can help but i suspect it isn’t pairing well with your resolution settings.

I didnt tinker around much. I bought a product from Arcadeforge (GPIO hat + customized image of latest retropie build). The HDMI timings are pretty solid (better than Retrotink btw, ive tested both). I dont have any artifacts (tested the usual suspects like Castlevania and Super Mario World). Only thing thats bothering me is the mentioned Image Tearing in PS1 games when a prerendered background scrolls vertically.
Is there a commandline i can use to install and test out the beetle emulator? I cant find it under optional packages sadly.

Are not supported.

we don't support customized image. actually what they're doing breaks the software license: https://retropie.org.uk/about/legal/
in any case, you need to ask them for support.

i think it's in the experimental menu, but like i said, if it even works, it won't be playable.

@yuke what is a game i can test for tearing. I only can do testing of composite 240p on a tv but i can at least see if i have tearing or not. What device are you using from arcadeforge?

@edmaul69 Valkyre Profile for example. First sequence after starting the game.
