Retro Case Skins for the Most Popular Pi Cases
-
Drawing wood in a vector art app is hard LOL
Well, it looks fantastic. I currently have the case you guys are talking about and I love it. However, In this instance, I think I actually prefer the official Raspberry Pi case. With the artwork applied to that rounded top, it really brings out the type of stylistically deformed, yet adorable appearance that has become so popular over the past several years with collectable items such as the Funko line of figures. That being said, I think it's smart to offer up alternatives to suit other popular case types. I really hope you do well with these.

Really nice!
But for some reason the ZX Spectrum one isn't available on Red Bubble?

@mattrixk I ordered one of those today, I was going to make them for that one too, it seems really popular. I'll post here when there are skins for that case too.
I too have this case-it seems to scratch so easily, so would be great to have an option to be able to cover it in the future. Any chance you'd consider just doing plain colours for that one? I don't know why, but I have a thing about black and orange: would be cool to have an orange outer with the black innards, matches my heatsink and wiring!
Love the work though-I'm a Graphic Designer by trade, so appreciate how difficult it is to put things like this together!

I'd love to see them. I'm curious what you'd do with the cut-out logo on top. Would you cover it up, or just sort of design around it? It's probably the only real airflow my Pi gets, so it's probably not a great idea for me to cover it with anything.

I think I'll probably ignore the cut out and allow the user to decide how much of it if any they want to cut through. It's just a piece of vinyl so an exacto or scissors will cut it with no problems and its peelable/restickable so its easy to do

@ChoccyHobNob Thanks!
I ordered the Amiga500 one in the end, as I have the white and red case.
Might buy myself a black case just so I can stick your ZX Spectrum wrap on it now though! There's no such thing as too many Raspberry Pi's right?
:-)

great idea and great work getting it done!

I will be buying one, (once I figure out which one I like best. I might buy a few and just get more official cases, since I have a bunch of Pis with RetroPie on them. that might be the way to go.

It's arrived! Thank you very much!
It was most admired at our local retro club last night!
-
Can you make this for the flirc case?
-
@GtBFilms digging the joystick. Is it something official or a homebrew?
-
I've ordered the NES and the Atari 2600 skins, along with both white and ablack 'official' cases. I'll post some pics when done.

@edmaul69 a guy called Mike Hanson made it for me, he does a lot of bespoke joysticks. That's a 4-way one and was only £30 - I didn't reckon I could built it myself any cheaper. He was recommended to me as apparently Jon Stoodley, the only UK pacman player with a perfect score, uses these joysticks for practice.
I'm currently saving to get him to build me an Asteroids one, although that's going to cost a bit more.

@Rion
I just went to the site and it was working for me but your post was bout 2 hours ago. -
@backstander You are right. It's working now 😀

I just wanted to post a quick update here. I have listened to the requests I've received and have redrawn all the skins from scratch, improving the colours and details, they now also fit Flirc and oneninedesign cases (the 'pro' one you get from canakit/rs/mod-my-pi) as well as the official case, I've also added a bunch of new ones.
None of that is live yet, I have just ordered test skins to make sure the fit is good before unleashing them on the unwary public!
I'll update here when I put the new things live!

@ChoccyHobNob
I've got the oneninedesign black canakit case and I would love to see a TurboGrafx 16 (or PC Engine) skin :-)My other case is a LEGO NES case:
