I'm trying to remove the year, publisher, players ect from my game list and have only images. I have modifying gamelist.xml in various ways but can't stop it from saying unknown in the year field and can't get rid of "players".

@dmich135 youd have more luck modifying the theme instead of individual game lists

Thanks for the reply, all my searches prior to posting only turned up deleting all meta data, but I just found the answer minutes ago, clicking on my tag. As you suggested I'm going to try commenting out the fields ( <!-- "data" --> ) , in /etc/emulationstation/themes/carbon/carbon.xml (for default theme). I expect it to work fine. Thanks again, have spent months retrofitting a Famicom mini, and am finally putting the finishing touches on it.

@dmich135 I would advise against modifying the theme in /etc directly. rather you should copy from

            /etc/emulationstation/themes/yourtheme

            to

            /home/pi/.emulationstation/themes/yourcustomtheme

There are more tips on theme modification here: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Creating-Your-Own-EmulationStation-Theme

Thanks for the tip, going to do that, have been working on my goal, wow did I just learn a lot. Took me a bit to figure out why when I commented out the most obvious parts, "Players:" moved to a slightly different spot rather than going away like everything else did. I'm on a test setup and have re-imaged several times, so I see what you mean about moving the file. Am I correct in assuming that I,m not really getting rid of the data, but moving it off the screen? Thanks!
