      Hello everybody,

today I wanted to play with my retropie system, which I hadn't used for 6 weeks now. But its giving me an error message while booting emulation station. I'm getting the following error message:

"/opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/emulationstation: error while loading share libraries: libpthreaf.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I'm using Retropie with a Raspberry Pi 3. The system was working without any problems 6 weeks ago. Can anybody help me?

such as what power supply? other peripherals? Installed anything else? Does it crash to the command line, can you run the setup script?

I'm using the official raspberry pi power supply with the raspberry logo on it (5,1 V DC, max. 2,5 A). I can still run the setup script and I just did an update to the newest version of retropie a few minutes ago but unfortunatly that didnt solved the problem :-(

I had to edit the first post, cause I misspelled one word. Its "libpthreaf.so.0" and not "lipthreaf.so.0". Does anyone have a clue?

By the way: I dont find any infos about that "libpthreaf.so.0" file on google, there are only some infos about a "libpthread.so.0" file.

@Water-White Are you sure it is not "libpthread"?

yes... I'm logged in in retropie right now via terminal and ssh. When I run the command "emulationstation" I get exactly this message, which I copied with cmd+c cmd+v here:

/opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/emulationstation: error while loading shared libraries: libpthreaf.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

@Water-White My advice is to rebuild your image.

Ok, does that mean, that I am loosing all my configurations, save games, custom boarders etc which I were building during the last months? or is there a way, to keep those?

@Water-White you should be able to ssh into it with a program like putty or if you can press f4 and get to the command line and in the command line type:

                          sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

Then in there you can reinstall emulationstation

You are missing an important library - probably sdcard corruption or bad sdcard - although you could try reinstalling these libs, other stuff could be affected - reimage is the best bet. I have never had this happen on a good sdcard - so you might want to look into getting another.

I'm using an 32 gb intenso sd card. Would you call it a good one? @BuZz ?

@Water-White no idea, but I've never heard of the brand.
