Purchased my first Pi 3 (retro Pi)...HELP!!!

To my understanding, it would still be illegal for the RetroPie project to bundle the RetroPie package in a commercial offering.
I have absolutely no clue to the legalities of such a package, as I said I didn't get mine because it had a pre flashed card, I bought it because it did have all the components in one place from one sender, I am sure a link to any number of great tutorials out there would suffice to get people up and running if the only problem was flashing the card
@mediamogul said in Purchased my first Pi 3 (retro Pi)...HELP!!!:
Tempers flared because it's a deeply sensitive subject around here, but if he were to come back after his ban is up and was willing to abide by the forum rules for support, I'm sure he'd be welcome.
I can certainly see that, but if you look back at the start of the thread this bloke did say, in my own interpretation,
"hey look, I have absolutely no clue what I am doing! I, like probably 99% of the population had no idea that a multi billion international company like facebook would advertise such stuff, I had no idea it happened. I am happy to reflash the card to be apart of your community but I really need your help along the way!@Billy-Lee said in Purchased my first Pi 3 (retro Pi)...HELP!!!:
Had no idea, mate. They have a page on facebook as you can see and most stuff you do see advertised via facebook seems to be legit. What do you mean, download a new image?? As I say, I'm new to all this. That's what I read from the message, but the next post was more flame

I am not sure that this will ever happen @mediamogul , the poor fella begged for help and wanted to be apart of this community but he got chewed up and spat out.
I didn't take part in the discussion, but from reading through it, I'd have to say he gave as good as he got. I found his tone belligerent and unwilling to accept he might have done something wrong.

as frustrating as it is....
I ready a study while back, cant seem to find it now though. It was something about apples terms of service on average is agreed to in 7 seconds. This is a 300 odd page document
Unfortunately people these days would spend their entire life reading terms of service if it was up to suppliers. It has become a force of habit to just click threw or ignore it completely for most people, no amount of point out the obvious is going to help/change these people.

Sorry @massatomic I think you've found yourself on a high-horse, well-intentioned as you may be.
OP's wilful ignorance and sense of entitlement was his own undoing.
-
@massatomic Do you genuinely believe he thought he was getting 17,000 games included in his purchase and believed this was all perfectly legit and above-board? I have my doubts... The position re 3rd party images is not only based on the legality of ROMs but due to the fact that no-one but the person who created that image will know what custom configs and tweaks have been applied. How would you even start to troubleshoot that? Plus the people who use these images often ask for help then have zero understanding on how to implement the fix. RetroPie is not a plug and play solution and I hope it never is. Some reading and learning is a must.

Come to think of it, who's initials are actually "AAA"? Is 96436 even a real number?

May be so, I just felt that he made an honest attempt to fix the situation up to the quote I broke down before. If the next post was a link to download page and any number of tutorial sources for flashing and moving roms around there would of been a positive discussion from this point. Just how many times can you poke a dog with a stick before you get bit?

Nup, not for a second. But can you honestly say that you own an original copy of all your roms? People is glass houses should throw stones.

Yep, all that! Which is why I pointed out that he asked for help in sorting the problem out way but was met with more flame. @Hiroshi pointed out my rather tall horse, I cant help it, I have long legs :P

googled aaa names for fun, apparently its the American Automobile Association

@massatomic Just to clarify my involvement in this. I didn't accuse this guy of breaking copywrite, but pointed out the guy selling these was breaking copywrite and to direct support requests to him. My opinion is that if you want to profit from this project, then you can support it. I also defended @BuZz from his verbal attacks by giving some back.
I will not for once claim that my hands are clean when it comes to ROMs, but I didn't claim otherwise in my posts. All I pointed out was that the guy had been duped and to direct support requests to the same guy. OP then got aggressive and it kinda exploded.
I understand this whole thing blew way way up pretty badly, and we don't want to end up with this kind of malice on the forums. I don't think my posts were out of proportion to his reaction if I'm honest though.

Right, I saved the page a while back on my phone and since despite looking in my profile the notifications boxes are unticked yet I'm getting notifications in regards to the tags. I've been also getting notifications since being banned from people replying to this thread.
I'm accessing this right right now through the page that I saved via my phone. You get less options say to delete posts, options in your profile, so instead I've been trying to access the site via my laptop , but when I try to log on it says my IP address has been permanently banned! You have no email to contact yourselves either to do with such issues hence why I'm posting on this thread now.
I'd like to stop getting these notifications particularly if I'm banned but either way. I'd like to know if I'm banned or not as I seem to access it this way, by being told I'm pernnamly banned whilst trying to log in via my laptop. If you are going to ban me then please do it and doing so delete any information and in turn prevent me getting notifications. If not then enable me to log in via my laptop without that notice appearing so I can edit all options I'd via the webpage and not this app-like page.
As far as things to do with what's been said and what action was taken - no I didn't take well to y son being used as an example in being used as sex-trafficking in comparison to a piece of software being available on here. I see there was no action taken against that individual - further more me being called a monster . Look I'm sure there's some really nice people who do post on here but if that's your motto in terms of what you think is fair then I really can't say I'd be overally excited to be a part of supporting and posting on here. To be honest I have found this whole thing in terms of what has been said and the action taken along with, as pointed out, contractioning, to be disgusting. As I said as there's been no other way to contact admin or log in via my laptop this was the only way I could contact you.

ive been getting notifications and everything posted each day on threads and not been able to do anything about stopping it.
-
You were unbanned - but if your plan is to start going on again, I am happy to reinstate it. I have removed the ip ban.
You can control notifications from the watching/not watching button and via the user control panel. You should also check if you have subscribed to a category - you can control that on each category page - no-one is subscribed by default, so perhaps you switch it on.
-
@BuZz it appears you haven't.
-
@Billy-Lee Well, I did but perhaps something was cached. I resaved and restarted so you might have more luck now.

My comment was only meant to play against one's expectation of all the possible motivations a chicken would have for crossing a road.

I can't see anything specifically saying 'control panel', but just settings. Within there the boxes under the Watch category were un-ticked as postured. I've changed homepage setting to None and within browsing Settings un-ticked the Enable In-Topic Searching. Not sure what else to do, but will see if I continue getting notifications.

@Billy-Lee As i wrote above
You should also check if you have subscribed to a category - you can control that on each category page - no-one is subscribed by default, so perhaps you switch it on.
and check email settings on the screen above.
