@kage916 I think you f#$%ed up many of your system's specific config files after enabling
config_save_on_exitoption and it's making the solutions you're trying useless (if you wanna know why it's a bad practice, check this post).If you are not comfortable with Linux commands to recover the
retroarch.cfg.rp-distfiles, I suggest a fresh install and start it again. -
@meleu Would you be able to send me a step by step to recover it. I would prefer not to do a fresh install and start all over again in fear of screwing things up even further.

@meleu Or a tutorial for doing the fresh install and starting again. Had a friend who did the initial installation for me, watched him step by step and could probably do it again, but just need to know what all I need to do to completely start it all over.

This is the best decision!!! There are nice tutorials on youtube! I specially like those from @herb_fargus , @Floob and @ETAPRIME .
